All you have to do is announce that Greenland is now under our security umbrella, something like the Marshall Islands. No country other than Denmark will be allowed to establish themselves in Greenland without our permission.
In the case of Marshall Islands, we have an agreement that their citizens have free entry into the US and our citizens have free entry there.
Meanwhile, if Trump is anxious to annex something, he should annex the Chagos Islands where our Diego Garcia is located. Britain is determined to give it away so we may as well claim it.
