House Republicans finally just passed the Big Beautiful Bill. There’s a lot of good in it. But one thing that was notably missing?
DOGE cuts.
Republicans insist they’re going to eventually codify the slashing Elon Musk and his team have done to the bureaucracy.
Are they telling the truth? Why not now? We answer those questions and more on today’s Rebelcast, with Daily Caller Editor-in-Chief Dylan Housman and Communications Director

I thought they were going to do the DOGE cuts separately.
Republican > Democrat it’s some inefficient bumblers vs dedicated communists come on now
Get on your local central committee and help clean house
Might be done separately but knowing this GOP who knows..they are stuck on stupid and hell bent on handing the Dems the midterms a lot of them HATE Trump and I mean HATE HIM as much as the commies do so I can see them sabotaging everything in order to give the Dems power
I mean, they did it once before in 2018 so....
then the impeachment hearings began, I can see a repeat of that happening
I knew this would happen. The one thing on this earth that has eternal life is a government program. You can show them to their face where the money is wasted and they don’t care.
Where’s that video of Ron Burgendy saying;
“I DON”T BELIEVE YOU!!”
Can’t do it in a reconciliation bill.
Reconciliation can be used once per year for each of a spending bill, a revenue, bill, and a debt limit bill. Those subjects can be combined into one bill but it will use up each category.
If President Trump’s bill is not addressing DOGE spending cuts in this bill, it's likely because they are saving that for another reconciliation bill to follow.
It appears that the strategy is to use reconciliation to shut the Democrats out of the process because it only requires a majority vote to pass in the Senate. Any attempt to split up bills or expand its scope would nullify reconciliation and bring the Democrats back to the table to invoke minority powers to stop President Trump’s agenda. Adding spending cuts to this bill will use up the spending reconciliation; it's better to save that to its own reconciliation bill that won't have the other baggage from this bill.
Republicans are playing with fire by trying to squeeze other issues into this reconciliation bill.

Interesting. Thanks for the background info.
Is it possible that there are limitations as to what can be done in/with a reconciliation bill?
With Republicans it’s “Free Beer Tomorrow” every day.
I’ll vote JD Vance in ‘28. Hoping this is not how things end up. Musk stuck his neck out and did a great job. He deserves better.
This bill BARELY passed without those permanent DOGE cuts. The beasts on both sides of the aisle feeding off taxpayer money must be starved before it’s codified.
I’ll bet 90% of them have a relative working for an NGO.
“Is it possible that there are limitations as to what can be done in/with a reconciliation bill?”
YES!
“This bill BARELY passed without those permanent DOGE cuts.”
It is a reconciliation bill.
What’s particularly galling is that grand-standers like Ron Johnson and Rand Paul understand this.
“Republicans insist they’re going to eventually codify the slashing Elon Musk and his team have done to the bureaucracy.”
In 3024 or 3025 ...maybe after all we are talking about Congre$$
