President Trump appeared to acknowledge Wednesday that toy shortages are possible as his tariff hikes ripple through the economy.
The CEOs of Walmart, Target and Home Depot privately warned him last week about the likelihood of product shortages and price spikes.
"Somebody said, 'oh, the shelves are gonna be open,'" Trump told reporters Wednesday. "Well, maybe the children will have two dolls instead of 30 dolls, and maybe the two dolls will cost a couple of bucks more."

WAKE UP FOLKS!!!
It isnt just dolls that will not be available.
Black Friday will see armed shootouts that will turn the holiday season into a bloodbath in many locations.
Think i am crazy? Look at all the shootouts happening now over the stupidest excuses or reasons.
You will need an armored car to go shopping this year.
I have to laugh when I see 40-50 year old Tonka Toys.
And kids REALLY do NOT need a vast number of things to play with!
A REAL query......DO MOST CHILDREN, NOW, ACTUALLY KNOW HOW TO PLAY, OR ARE THEY MOSTLY ON AN IPHONE/IPAD/COMPUTOR?
I want my fishing rods made by someone with a gun to their head. Being a commie is no excuse for shoddy workmanship. /s (kinda)
I’m not opposed to the idea, but the implementation is self destructive. You could put a much smaller tariff in and achieve the same goal without stopping all trade at once. You could gradually increase tariffs to incentivize manufacturing in the US while giving businesses time to build factories and hire workers.
The choice this christmas, and next christmas, and every christmas for Trump’s presidency will be: You get nothing because the import is ripoff expensive, and there is no American alternative ready for 4 years.
That won’t happen because Trump will choke on tariffs and revoke them because they will be unpopular, which is the worst outcome because it discredits tariffs, which are the right policy. This is just the dumbest way to do them.
Trump should think twice before crossing children....
65 years in my case.....
I grew up with Tonka trucks.
May have cost a bit more, but they were indestructible!
Chinese or at the time Japanese toys, were destroyed in seconds.
People have so much junk that their garages/basements are packed full. So they rent a storage locker. And then buy more and more junk.
Now a bicycle and all the accessories needed and speculated, are okay to spend on. /s
Have to get a doll if the little girl wants it....
Guys and Dolls
From the movie with Frank Sinatra, Johnny Silver, and Stubby Kaye.
… When you see a guy
Reach for stars in the sky
You can bet, that he’s doing it for some doll.
When you meet a gent,
paying all kinds of rent
For a flat, that could flatten the Taj Mahal
… Call it sad, call it funny
But it’s better than even money
that the guy’s only doing it for some doll.
Are we there yet?
Trump is hitting hard and fast to get the job done. He can’t guarantee that future politicians are going to continue the political pressure.
Smaller tariffs will not cause companies to bring the factories back. Once a company has left, it takes about 4 times the cost before they will return. If the tariff is too low, they will just count it as a cost of business and carry one.
It’s working so far, because Trump has caused about $5 trillion in businesses choosing to return to America. As companies return, it creates a nexus for other companies to choose to return to take advantage of the infrastructure that gets built.
I agree which makes me think that maybe people could get together and exchange toys. All four of my great-grandchildren have way too many toys and many of them are in perfect shape so they good organize a parent get together with toys and make trades and the children would get new toys for Christmas.
By some reports, China is capitulating behind closed doors. So, it is working. Trump has successfully isolated China from the rest of the world.

Still, she looks good.
Ya gotta admit...
I couldn’t care less if someone wants to live a spartan lifestyle with nothing but a folding chair and a bookcase or wishes to be the hoarder of all hoarders.
I just don’t think it should be up to the government to tell anyone which way to go.
I get the point - “preparing the public”... but this is *literally* the kind of thing crazy Bernie and socialist barbie (AOC) have been saying for *years*. I mean, literally. I can dig you up clips - entirely posted and rightfully mocked on this very place - about Bernie telling people they buy too much, they have too many choices, etc.
NO part of making America great involves “Bernie had a point.”
So true, both of my daughters have houses full of useless toys that are all over the floor.
MORE is LESS!
A Talking Tina doll! Just what my granddaughter needs.
Most people shop online nowadays. I shop the early Black Friday sales and Cyber Monday for Christmas. I laugh at those people that get at the dawn to go and shop at the mall.
And vice-versa.
