Conservative critics have long accused the department of helping to censor the American right...

The only office within the US State Department that monitors foreign disinformation is about to be eliminated, two State Department officials have told MIT Technology Review.

The Counter Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (R/FIMI) Hub is a small office in the State Department’s Office of Public Diplomacy that tracks and counters foreign disinformation campaigns.

No need for the censorship function of the Office of Disinformation.

The MSM does that work.

Meanwhile we are beating their cans off.

The lefty progressive ideologue wire services no longer have a non shared White House press corps seat. They have to rotate .

It was eliminated once before shortly after the election. This is a reincarnation with another name that they might be able to finally kill off once and for all.

All disinformation is foreign collusion and so it is rightfully suppressed by Big Sis trying to protect all of us.

Well, OK. As long as they pour those resources into countering DOMESTIC disinformation.

That’s where the problems are.

Author is “Eileen Guo.” Maybe she isn’t real and this article is part of a Chinese disinformation campaign?

Notice that these articles about efforts to root out “disinformation” never talk about results. All we have here is: “ Some of its recent projects have included developing AI models to detect memes and deepfakes and exposing Russian propaganda efforts to influence Latin American public opinion against the war in Ukraine.”

That’s two PROJECTS, not RESULTS. They built an AI model. Big whoop.

It is sad that MIT has just become another privileged component of the deepstate.

Here is the author’s bio

“Eileen Guo - I am the senior reporter for features and investigations at MIT Technology Review, where I focus on how the tech industry shapes our world. Previously I was a freelance reporter and audio producer for publications like The New York Times, Washington Post, National Geographic, and Wired, among others.”

Publishing this leftist screed by this leftist author is inconsistent with what should be a technolgy review by what purports to be one of our foremost technical institutes - though their deepstatism has long tarnished their rep.

Americans should determine for themselve what constitutes disinformation without government influence.

So then, we're going to allow foreign disinformation to be spread within the U.S.?

Does it mean we're going to be seeing more pro-Xi/pro-China, pro-terrorism/pro-Iran, pro-Putin/pro-Russia rhetoric?

That agency, whatever id did, did not stop the disinformation coming from abroad, and in fact, we had plenty of disinformation coming from inside the U.S. which was equal or greater than the disinformation coming from foreign sources.

I am much more worried about insane pervert leftists running influence operations than I am about any foreign country.

Our biggest enemies are already inside the gates.

Check the definition of misinformation. That is where the lie lies. (Is that correct grammar? Can’t be)

“The culling of the office leaves the State Department without a way to actively counter the increasingly sophisticated disinformation campaigns from foreign governments like those of Russia, Iran, and China.”

But the author is fine with disinformation from the State Department, CIA, FBI, MI6. . .
