Over 500 law firms sign brief backing Perkins Coie suit against Trump

More than 500 law firms moved to file an amicus brief on Friday in support of Perkins Coie's lawsuit against the Trump administration's executive order that targeted the firm over its representation of Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign.

"The Executive Order at issue in this case, and the others like it, take direct aim at several of the Nation's leading law firms and seek to cow every other firm, large and small, into submission," the amicus brief says.

"The looming threat posed by the Executive Order at issue in this case and the others like it is not lost on anyone practicing law in this country today: any controversial representation challenging actions of the current administration (or even causes it disfavors) now brings with it the risk of devastating retaliation," the firms said in the brief.

Five firms, Milbank, Paul Weiss, Skadden Arps, Willkie Farr and Gallagher and Sullivan and Cromwell, have thus far opted to cut deals with the White House to avoid being similarly targeted, as the White House announced.

While multiple "Big Law" firms added their names to the list submitted Friday, perhaps most notable are the names who didn't sign on.

Kirkland and Ellis, the largest U.S. law firm by revenue, is not on the list, though the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday it is in talks with the White House to avoid being targeted. Neither is Latham and Watkins, the second largest firm by revenue, or any of the other top 10 firms by revenue rankings.

Every law firm on the brief is potentially a target. Foolish.

“seek to cow every other firm, large and small, into submission”

I hope so.

Leftist lawyers are enemy soldiers in the war against the liberties of the American people.

So what. Lawyers stick together.

Why would we expect them to act otherwise?

The lawyers for the party of "Butcher the Dick" badly deserve this fate.

“the risk of devastating retaliation”
Radical leftists just can’t see the irony in their words.
Retaliation for the most devastating, fabricated attack on a Presidential candidate and campaign in U.S. history?
I hope Trump is able to put this sanctimonious bunch into the poor house, over their underhanded actions.
Maybe he can take down the 500 complicit letter writers, as well.

The American people have no idea why this nest of insurrectionists is being picked on by Trump. Sure, there were conspiracy nuts like you and me making wild allegations against them but that was obviously all partisan BS. No, then why, if they are so evil, has not a single one of those lawyers ever saw an indictment or even a grand jury regarding these alleged crimes?

Phone in a question for Blondi on her Fox shows. She’ll show you that no chargeable crimes were ever committed by these lawyers or anyone they were ever associated with.

Lawyers stick together.

Yep, and with their anti Trump and anti American judges, it is not too hard to figure out which way it continues.

A dog that has bit my hand repeatedly should not expect a tasty morsel of meat from me.

The firm is by and large opposed to Trump and his policies.

It should not expect federal contracts to defend the Trump administration.

These schmucks are guilty of treason with their complicity to destroy an American president with H Clinton.

Spying, espionage, falsification of documents, tampering with witnesses, perjury, etc, etc, etc.

They’re lucky they’re not in a federal prison facing Life without Parole.

Taking away security clearances is the very least they should suffer.

The entire firm and ALL individuals involved should be permanently disbarred from practicing law anywhere within the borders of the US.

Is Trump doing more than just removing their security clearances? How come that’s not done to everybody as soon as they leave office?
