Jesper Steinmetz, a correspondent for Danish channel TV 2, reported that U.S. representatives had gone around "knocking on one door after another" in recent days to ask if they would welcome a visit from Usha Vance. "Everywhere, the answer was the same: no thank you," Steinmetz said.
He said that was the reason the plans were changed.

I can’t imagine why other than they would feel like they were being used, and that’s legit. OTOH, I would be overwhelmed with curiosity.

So, this proves nothing. We’re supposed to think that it means something. It means nothing.
My guess is that nobody wants to admit to wanting the US to take over because of possible repercussions from Denmark if it cannot be made to work.
