The president issued a new order Tuesday sanctioning yet another law firm, Jenner & Block. The result overall has been called an extraordinary threat to the constitutional rights of due process and legal representation, as well as a far weaker effort to challenge Trump’s actions in court than during his first term.
President Donald Trump’s crackdown on lawyers is having a chilling effect on his opponents’ ability to defend themselves or challenge his actions in court, according to people who say they are struggling to find legal representation as a result of his challenges.
Biden-era officials said they’re having trouble finding lawyers willing to defend them. The volunteers and small nonprofits forming the ground troops of the legal resistance to Trump administration actions say that the well-resourced law firms that once would have backed them are now steering clear. The result is an extraordinary threat to the fundamental constitutional rights of due process and legal representation, they said — and a far weaker effort to challenge Trump’s actions in court than during his first term.
Legal scholars say no previous U.S. administration has taken such concerted action against the legal establishment, with Trump’s predecessors in both parties typically respecting the constitutionally enshrined tenet that everyone deserves effective representation in court and that lawyers cannot be targeted simply for the cases and clients they take on.
Trump has used executive orders to target powerful law firms that have challenged him. The latest came Tuesday against Jenner & Block, which employed attorney Andrew Weissmann after he worked as a prosecutor in Robert S. Mueller III’s special counsel investigation of Trump in his first term.
The firm “has participated in the weaponization of the legal system against American principles and values. And we believe that the measures in this executive order will help correct...”

PAYBACK IS A RELENTLESS BITCH
I DID SAY RELENTLESS
Do illegal things, face legal consequences.
Neither side should be using these tactics. Project 65 are scum, and we do not need to be just like them. Save the harsh punishments for the morons who invented the Russian Collusion hoax and the WeeWee Dossier.
We should hold ourselves to a higher standard and let them put us all in prison.
I recall how they disbarred lawyers simply for representing Trump.
Now it’s the reverse and they’re scrambling.
It will be interesting to see which judge issues the first nationwide injunction demanding the Trump administration reinstate one of these weasel law firms.
Clown-level propaganda right there, from a clownass rag.
This is war. They started the war.
We should disembowel them.
(...”tolerance sucks rocks”, right? I’m done tolerating their evil.)
GOOD !
I wish I could say that the DemocRATS actually had some scruples, but that would be an enormous LIE.
In the meanwhile, payback is a B#ITCH, isn’t it??

>>”Legal scholars say no previous U.S. administration has taken such concerted action against the legal establishment..”
No U.S. President has faced a more corrupt legal establishment.
“Save the harsh punishments for the morons who invented the Russian Collusion hoax and the WeeWee Dossier.”
One of the firms sanctioned was a perp of the weewee dossier. Perkins Coie lawyers first launched the Russian server hoax, which even the FBI didn’t believe, and then hired Fusion to create the Steele Dossier and then laundered money from the Clinton campaign to pay for it.
“Neither side should be using these tactics.”
In an ideal world, I would agree with you. In our world, the deep state just grossly abused its overwhelming majority in state bar associations to disbar or threaten to sanction attorneys who worked for Trump and much more.
Old style R’s would say, “we are principled and above that.” And in a decent country, all of us would be. But if there is no cost to that kind of behavior, it will happen over and over every time the power of the bureaucracy is challenged.
Do you think the D’s/progressives/deep state/bureaucracy will change unless they feel a lot of pain as a result of their behavior? If not, what is your solution?
The gutter is fine by me if that is where the battle is...
Just look what they did to Rudy Giuliani and a whole lot more. At least Trump will only go after those that actually do something illegal.
I’m not sure what the big deal is. The President disqualified this law firm from holding any security clearances or accessing any secure government facilities. Matters of national security are entirely discretionary and are administered solely by the executive branch of the U.S. government.
