FBI Director Kash Patel said Friday that the agency is going to work with local law enforcement to address swatting incidents that occurred against media figures.
"I want to address the alarming rise in ‘Swatting’ incidents targeting media figures," he wrote on the social media platform, X. "The FBI is aware of this dangerous trend, and my team and I are already taking action to investigate and hold those responsible accountable."
Some "MAGA" figures such as radio show host Joe Pagliarulo and social media influencer Gunther Eagleman have said they were targets of swatting this week, according to Newsweek.
"This isn’t about politics – weaponizing law enforcement against ANY American is not only morally reprehensible but also endangers lives, including those of our officers," Patel's post continued. "That will not be tolerated. We are fully committed to working with local law enforcement to crack down on these crimes."
He said there would be updates on the situation later.

As much as I despise the concept, the DA should tack on the obligatory 20-year sentencing for a “politically based hate crime”.
Make them choke on their own twisted ideology.
Swatting is the perfect representation of left-wing, statist 21st century America
Angry political leftists on one hand, calling in fraudulent threats to, on the other hand, over-armed, local SWAT-cowboys, larping as seal-team six.
How different is it from loyal party member Mrs. Popovich in the former USSR, calling the local NKVD on the neighbor she hates, because she wonders how he is able to eat chicken 3 times a week?
Between what is available to the FBI and NSA, it is possible to find all of these criminals. Some of what is done pushes right to the edge (or past the edge) of legal restrictions on those agencies. Approach these demands with caution.
And no matter how it is done, the trace efforts can have very large costs of time and money. Most of these creeps are going to get away with what they are doing unless they keep doing it too many times.
The last few SWATTERs caught were openly boasting of their projects to acquaintances. No advanced technology needed to catch them - just ordinary police work.
this really is excellent news ... i figured patel would jump on this ASAP ... i’m also hoping the FBI sends out a national bulletin to ALL police departments to forewarn them about the dangers and illegality of swatting ...
Catturd2 was swatted this week.
More than once from what I saw.
I agree. Use their “hate crime” BS against them...
Allow for billion dollar lawsuits to the police departments. After paying a few they will figure it out. For some it just takes a very large club to the head.
