Pete Buttigieg set to announce he’s not running for open Senate seat — leaving door open for 2028 presidential bid

Pete Buttigieg is expected to announce Thursday that he will not run for Michigan’s open Senate seat — leaving the door open for a widely expected presidential run in 2028, according to a report.
The former Transportation Secretary, who earlier said he was “looking” at a Senate campaign to replace retiring Democrat Gary Peters in one of the most competitive seats in the 2026 cycle, plans to announce that he’s now not running at some point on Thursday, a person briefed on his decision told Politico.
His decision was framed by allies as a move to put him in the best position for a future presidential run, all while avoiding more difficult-to-win campaigns in 2026 and 2028, according to Politico.
“The hardest decision in politics is to pass on a race you have a very good chance to win,” longtime Democratic operative David Axelrod told Politico. “Pete was an A-list recruit and would have been a formidable candidate for the Senate had he chosen to run.”

The only reason this train loving weirdo carpetbagging douchebag was given the transportation gig because he checked the gay box and he rode a train once.
I am so sick of these DEI candidates.

Wow are republicans in deep deep trouble then next election.
The Biden Administration was such a rousing success, and Pete was such an effective appointment of bidens that there is no way Republicans can ever win!
/s of course!

He wasn’t going to win.
1. He was the mayor of a town in INDIANA. He’d be a carpet bagger in Michigan.
2. Michigan is trending red. Remember, Trump won the state in 2024.

I live in Ann Arbor, and I am glad he is not running for the open Senate seat.
One question, though:
Who is Buttigieg's political advisor who thinks he can win nationally more than state-wide in Michigan??
