I’ve known too many in his age group that die once they get Pneumonia. It seems to be the Grim Reaper’s scythe.
May the Vatican get its own version of DOGE.
72 hrs to get right with God
The word you are looking for is Justice, not Karma.
I’m sorry, my condolences. Pulmonary disease is horrible. I’ve had a bout with Sarcoidosis that put me in the hospital for a week. The month I had leading up to that was hell. I can’t begin to imagine what your wife experienced, or you for that matter. I’m so sorry.
Almighty and everlasting God, have mercy upon Thy servant, Francis, our Supreme Pontiff, and direct him, according to Thy loving kindness, in the ways of eternal salvation; that, of Thy gift, he may ever desire that which is pleasing unto Thee and may accomplish it with all his might. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Amen
That’s not much time to get his sex change completed, although, he’s already in a hospital…
Word on the street has it that ebb is gathering like-minded folks for a flashmob rendition of Handel’s Hallelujah chorus in St. Peter’s square at the moment of demise.
Many FR Catholics have expressed a desire to travel there but have settled for a Zoom-like reunion instead.
The Love and compassion being shown here in this thread is warming the cockles of many a cold heart.
‘Tis a sight to behold.
The word I want applied to me is Mercy.
I was there in April 2005 when Pope John Paul was interred in the Basilica. It was a very sad moment. I followed his footsteps in Krakow.
Elsie, I see that your non believing sarcastic cold heart is still trumpeting your delusional diatribe. My prayers are headed upward for you.
🙏
The reporting does ring similar to when they were trying to convince us all that RBG was decathalon training in her final days.
I looked it up-—Cardinal Vergez turns 80 March 1st. He is a Curial Cardinal, a Spaniard, and a religious-—any action that might be perceived as potentially disenfranchising him likely will be taken as an offence not only by him, but by many other Cardinals that sees themselves as falling into one or more of these categories.
Stepping on toes needlessly is really bad curial politics (generally it is bad politics anyway, but high ranking clergy tend to be really bad about such things). That is part of why Francis will be missed by almost no one.
“The word you are looking for is Justice, not Karma.”
My vocabulary is far more expansive. Justice denotes punishment and is based upon judgement. Karma denotes a learning experience, not punishment. Consequences, yes. Punishment, no.
Jesus stated several times that He came here not to judge, but to save. While I try not to judge, I’m human and tend to falter.
Better make sure the chimney’s clear

Santa Claus?
I suspect that the first selection would be the Dies Irae, followed by a Te Deum. Inverting the order would be unseemly.
As Benedict XV pointed out in his encyclical on the 1500th anniversary of the death of St. Jerome, love of truth cannot be found without a hatred of error. In fairness, I paraphrase from memory and may be blending Benedict XV with his contemporary Garrigou-Lagrange. One of the good things I can say about Francis is he either authored, or allowed someone to author for him, a very passable work on the 1600th hundred anniversary.
There are good things about Francis, and I am grateful for you and some of the other separated brethren for pointing them out from time to time in the forum. That said, there is some wisdom in Freepdom’s Catholic Caucus which generally wishes him to go away. This wisdom is captured, in particular, by the first stanza of the following poem. This is in no way to claim that Francis is a formal heretic, but the mere consistent appearance of possible squishiness causes him to forfeit most aspects of filial defense.
Heretics All (By H. Belloc)
Heretics all, whoever you may be,
In Tarbes or Nimes, or over the sea,
You never shall have good words from me.
Caritas non conturbat me.
But Catholic men that live upon wine
Are deep in the water, and frank, and fine;
Wherever I travel I find it so,
Benedicamus Domino.
On childing women that are forelorn,
And men that sweat in nothing but scorn:
That is on all that ever were born,
Miserere Domine.
To my poor self on my deathbed,
And all my dear companions dead,
Because of the love that I bore them,
Dona Eis Requiem.
I hope that his passing is gentle and as painless as possible.

Yes, his and the approximately 120 others who will pass the same minute.
Santa Claus?
Given how Nicholas treated Arius, I doubt that Francis would care to encounter him, but you could sell loads of tickets for a reality TV show featuring Francis and either Nicholas or Jerome.
Did Gemelli offer any suggestions as to which of popo’s gods he’d prefer that we pray to?

That’s funny but under the circumstances rather inappropriate!
