Those car seats for kids are insidious contraptions meant to separate children from the loving embrace of their mother.

We traded Liberty for Security. We ended up with an intrusive government that micromanages little aspects of our lives -- and we didn't really get much Security either. Now people are obese and smoking cannabis and suffering mental illness. But thank goodness! Fewer people smoke cigarettes!!!! It was not a good bargain.

A little tongue in cheek there, but there’s some truth. Fifty years ago, there were hardly any fat people. In my grade school in the ‘60s there was exactly one fat kid. Look at the kids now. What happened?
In all seriousness, I speculate that a lot of our problems today is less hydration (drinking water/tea/lemonade) and replacing it with sodas and other things.
Bring back smoking on airplanes.

Life expectancy was shorter back then, no? Diet are exercise significant factors to healthy living, but it does bear scrutiny how the medical maladies have become so widespread and varied.

I believe so, but today there also seems to be more older folks unable to care for themselves in nursing homes. I don't know if that's because folks don't do it at home anymore (so you never really saw it), or just a function of boomer demographics (higher ratio of older folks).
