Trump is acting like a wartime president. Why? There isn't any war, yet he is acting with great urgency without apparent concern for the consequences. Elon Musk is on record as saying we will have smart as or smarter than human AI this year or next. Sam Altman and other industry insiders agree. AGI or near AGI next year is huge national emergency for the U.S. Elon Musk and others have evidently convinced President Trump that this is real and it is going to happen soon. Trump is reacting to this information as if we face a wartime crises, which we do. As Roosevelt was persuaded several years before the atomic bomb was built by Albert Einstein and other knowledgeable scientists, Musk and others have briefed Trump on what is coming. Trump knows and understands, at least to degree, what we face. The interesting times we live in already are about to get a lot more interesting.

Elon Musk is a scam artist and his predictions should not be taken seriously:

2014: Musk predicted that Tesla’s cars would be able to drive themselves across the country with no driver by 2017.

2017: He stated that Tesla would achieve full autonomy by the end of 2018.

2018: Musk predicted that Tesla would have a million robotaxis on the road by the end of 2020.

2019: He claimed that Tesla would have a million cars with full self-driving capability by mid-2020.

2020: Musk predicted that Tesla would achieve Level 5 autonomy (full self-driving without any human intervention) by the end of 2021.

2021: He stated that Tesla would have a million robotaxis on the road by 2022.

2022: Musk predicted that Tesla would achieve full autonomy by the end of 2023.

2023: He claimed that Tesla would have a million cars with full self-driving capability by mid-2024.

2024: Musk predicted that Tesla would achieve Level 5 autonomy by the end of 2025.

2025: He stated that Tesla would have a million robotaxis on the road by the end of 2026.

And wait a minute... WTF? Elon didn’t co-found OpenAi. The founders are Greg Brockman, Ilya Sutskever, Sam Altman, and Wojciech Zaremba. Elon was just an early investor, just like with Tesla, and he left when the founders refused to give him total control over OpenAI.

How can a human being create something smarter than himself?

This higher level of smartness must emerge somewhere in the creation process, but paradoxically it has to come into the picture from beyond its human creator.

Is this not logically incoherent?

How did humans create things FASTER than themselves?

How did they create things STRONGER than themselves?

How did they create things FAR MORE destructive than themselves?

We already built weapons that we can barely control.

Intelligence was bound to come down the cute sooner or later.

It’s a matter of building intelligence based on the neurocircuitry humans have...except a lot more with a lot more power.

It doesn’t defy the existence of God.

God didn’t put a limit on how stupid we could act and how fra we could go in that stupidity :)

the atomic bomb was built by Albert Einstein and other knowledgeable scientists,

I'm hoping you know Einstein didn't have any part in building the bomb. He had knowledge of its creation, sure. But he didn't build it.

No, Elon was involved. In the form of his money, also strategic planning. OpenAI was originally founded as non-profit “for the benefit all mankind,” but Altman made it into a for profit company as the power and money corrupted him.

FINALLY! The robo voice when I call the bank hoping to get a human will no longer say stupid things like “Hi! I’m Lisa, your automated banker. I can do things like tell you your balance or the or how much credit you have. What can I do for you?”

“I want to speak to a live human banker.”

“Did I tell you I can do things like tell you your balance and remaining credit.”

“I want a HUMAN, damn you, you stinking useless effing %#@#$^@# bot!”

“Let me get somebody to help you with that.”

Nevertheless it is true. One thing that going on is that each model is being used to train the next higher model. Keep in mind that this so called “intelligence” is simulated or “computed” intelligence. It is not exactly the same as human intelligence in that it comes about in a different way, but in practical everyday terms, it will soon be impossible for anyone to tell if they are talking on the phone to a real person or an AI about any subject in the world.

Sorry for the unclear phrasing. Roosevelt was persuaded several years before the bomb was built that it was possible to build the bomb by a famous letter Einstein signed. Also by others.

That's the lying BS promoted by Elon and his sycophants on X. Elon hates Sam Altman because he WOULDN'T sell OpenAI to Tesla, not because they shifted to a for profit model, since Elon supported that model... under Tesla's control:

I had a speak’n’say, as a kid in the 70’s. It was probably as intelligent as AOC.

"FINALLY! The robo voice when I call the bank hoping to get a human will no longer say stupid things...." Not here yet. Intelligent AI would be nice in some ways, but there are a lot of drawbacks, too. Overall, we would be better not to have the really intelligent AI.

"That's the lying BS promoted by Elon" I don't worship Elon, but he is really doing everyone a huge service in helping Trump take control of the government. You are wrong about the history of OpenAI and you are wrong on Sam Altman. He is a world class sociopath of the highest order.

Elon is a provable pathological liar and fraudster who is illegally gaining access to all kinds of systems and private data without any kind of legal authorization or safeguards.

This is not going to help Trump in the long term.

And I'm right about OpenAI and Elmo. You're just ignoring reality.

It just has to be programmed to improve, in principle. Although that means we don’t control the process as to how it defines improvement.
