School reform happens at the state level with some help from the Federal level. Hosting high profile events such as this will help support state reforms.
School reform is critical a top top priority. Glad to see some news on this.
The English proficiency results mentioned at todays WH presser were DISMAL. What a national embarassment.

School Choice and also National Reciprocity for gun permits are two of my basic freedom issues. People ought to be able to make their own choices about basic rights.
Scores decline again for 13-year-old students in reading and mathematics
The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) administered the NAEP long-term trend (LTT) reading and mathematics assessments to 13-year-old students from October to December of the 2022–23 school year. The average scores for 13-year-olds declined 4 points in reading and 9 points in mathematics compared to the previous assessment administered during the 2019–20 school year. Compared to a decade ago, the average scores declined 7 points in reading and 14 points in mathematics.

I’ve found it curious that Democrats are pro choice when it comes to killing children but against choice when it comes to educating them. I guess the common denominator is control.
And source of funds
The democrats have no interest in raising children. They are only interested in indoctrinating slaves for their “state.”
Hillary will be pleased that in Trump’s Village the parents will vote for their kids.
The beginning of the end of what the DNC has become.
It will be a generation before the DNC recovers.
I was on a school board for 16 years. The College Board needs to be dissolved. Get rid of the Dept of Ed. This would free up education immensely.
The feds should get completely out of the education realm. No federal $$ because what happens is that they are 10% of school budgets and control 100% of the curriculum and budget.
My wish list of educational fixes:
1. $$ follows the child, not the school. This forces competition.
2. If we can have home daycare services, why can’t teachers have home schools? Say for instance a state offers $10k per student in foundational money. A teacher home schools 10 students @ $10k = $100,000 in income. If they are really good, they charge $12k per student and the parents pick up the difference. More income for teachers, more competition for better education in communities, more local options, and less big school problems.
3. Eliminate onerous state testing. Children should not be taught-to-the-test.
4. Eliminate the Dept of Ed. Has education improved since its inception in 1979? That would be a resounding NO.
5. Develop and encourage apprenticeship programs with local businesses. Not every child needs to graduate school nor is cut out for it.
6. Teacher certification should be dumped. I’ve seen plenty of teachers with worthless degrees and display horrible classroom skills.
7. Break up the NEA and AFT unions. Nothing has been more detrimental to education than these self-serving entities. If you’re good, you don’t need union protection.
Food for thought.
Parents always had school choice, and still do.
Parents can choose to send their children to private schools now.
Don’t force other taxpayers to cover the tuition.
School vouchers turn private schools into public schools.
A better plan would be to slash public school spending and cut school taxes to the bare minimum.
