Sorry SNOWDEN, not Biden or Tulsi.. wow I need a drink haha
Does Mitch want to go down in history for rejecting an actual female for a Cabinet post, when he voted to confirm a man who pretends to be a woman?
R’s should be on offense. There are 47 D’s who should have to defend their No votes.
Article 2 doesn’t mention the margin of victory with respect to advise and consent.
I hate CornHole.
If Cornyn votes to confirm all Trump nominees, he may coast to renomination. Republican voters in TX are more liberal than people think.
I think that Rfk, Jr will be the one that doesn’t make it.
How big of him!
Texas, get rid of this turd!
The TX House is run by a liberal coalition of Democrats and “Moderate” Republicans: conservatives are shut out of the process. So, Cornyn could well survive seeking how liberal are most Republican voters who turn up at the polls.
I for the life of me don’t know how he hasn’t get primaried. Glad he is leaving.
He has been primaried but always prevails in the end. He is a true political fox.
McConnell, along with Collins, Murkowski, and Lankford will tank Gabbard. McConnell wants to let Trump know that Mitch can call the shots when he wishes.
Even for China Mitch he is surprising.
Collins was quoted last night as having a positive reaction to Tulsi Gabbard’s testimony. She liked what she heard.
Mitch is a no for the most Trumpy picks. Tulsi, Pete, Kash and Rfk jr. the others will probably be easily confirmed Mitch will be there so he can say he supported 90% of Trumps picks. That’s the game. Same with Murkowski
The GOPe begging to lose the coalition Trump built inside of 2 years
Sue Me is prolly the most iffy vote on the committee. But, she’ll prolly want at least one other R to join her in stopping this nomination. Cornyn going yes is therefore big.
Concerning Hegseth, Tillis was the key vote in the (full) Senate. When he decided to vote yes (on the same basis expressed here by Cornyn, that Trump won the election), Hegseth got confirmed with help from Vance. I’m now thinking Tillis wants to keep open the option of running for re-election.
Re-election could also explain Cornyn’s decision in this committee vote.
Getting back to Sue ME, she’s soldiered up on key votes in the past; e.g., Kavanaugh. I can’t say the same about Lisa Lisa from Alaska.
Plus, Tulsi was correct agent Snowden. Snowden broke the law but fell short of being a traitor. DOJ did not pursue treason, only felonies such as theft of government property. The reason why DOJ didn’t pursue treason is because that would have opened up to scrutiny the activities of the government violating the constitution and laws of the U.S.
The distinction was essentially recognized by Congress in their approving of protection of whistle-blowers. We shouldn’t have our people conflicted by their oath to protect the constitution and to obey the laws of the land, and their jobs as part of the intelligence community.
Also, the distinction was essentially recognized by the people of the U.S. in electing Trump in part because Trump said he was going to drain the swamp.
There was a time when people of the left thought Daniel Ellsburg was a hero.
I wrote about that elsewhere in regards to how Tulsi should have handled the Snowden questions/tirades.
1. Since Jimmy Carter is in recent memory due to his death she should have referenced his pardon of the draft dodgers who knowingly broke the law because they disagreed with the government's activities. To this day, some still regard them as traitors and cowards, others laud them for the courage of their convictions.
2. She should have brought up the moral dilemma many servicemembers have faced. They all take an oath to uphold the Constitution and to obey the orders of those above, but simultaneously incur the legal, moral and ethical obligation to disobey unlawful orders...and when faced with that dilemma rarely have the luxury of consulting a lawyer. Snowden found himself in a position where his whistleblower protections were limited and murky. Our Founders saw the press as a necessary government watchdog, and rightly or wrongly, that's where Snowden turned.
3. She should have referenced the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, noting that many signers would themselves, go on to serve in the very Senate holding the hearings, but not after having been deemed criminals and traitors.
Gosh John, if you were any more of a pussy, you’d be a walking yeast infection.
Or he knows she won’t be confirmed, and is just trying to save his butt.
Not going to work on me.
