A Northern Ireland MP is set to issue legal proceedings against controversial online influencer Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan, over social media posts.
KRW Law said the posts were made on Friday, the day after Sorcha Eastwood of the Alliance Party said she was a "survivor of abuse" in the House of Commons.
During a debate on violence against women and girls, Eastwood said she was once approached by a member of the public who told her that he wanted to rape her.
Her solicitors confirmed that they had been instructed to issue legal proceedings and that correspondence with the solicitors of the Tate brothers had been made on Tuesday.
They concluded: "In view of the sensitivities of issues engaged, we have no further comment at this stage."
Andrew Tate has previously been banned from TikTok, YouTube and Facebook after the platforms accused him of posting hate speech and misogynistic comments.

Throughout history, the censors have never been the good guys.
True... but let’s at least not pretend that Tate is. He a moslem nutcase unworthy of the respect of a decent person.
I’m no fan of the Tate brothers but these governments are going over and above the law to silence them. Tommy Robinson is an even worse example of government corruption. He is only pointing out their hypocrisy when it comes to grooming young girls. They put him in prison to keep him from talking to people. It’s pathetic.
Your obedience to your gaslight press masters is quite impressive.
A quite slippery slope, where the type speech deemed actionable via a lawsuit will become both more broad and unerringly politically targeted.
Agreed.
Do you think Andrews Tate is a man an American should admire?
He’s a standard issue british moslem scammer, pornographer and con-man.
Look up to him all you want.
Young men have been lied to Andrew Tate is one of the few who'll tell bitter truths instead of sweet lies.
He is actually teaching men in the West how to be men again.
He is pointing out on how men is being feminized in the West.
I know that the billionaire fascists use people like him and Alex Jones as proof-of-concepts for tactics that they will then use on the rest of us.
That isn't clear enough to you by now?
Did the BBC even list what the complaint refers to? I read the article and I didn’t see it.
