Nicole Shanahan: H1-B Visas a ‘Massive’ Cheap Labor Boon for Big Tech
Breitbart ^ | 27 Dec 2024 | Sean Moran

Posted on 12/27/2024 7:01:53 PM PST by SoConPubbie

Nicole Shanahan, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s running mate in 2024, said on Thursday that the H1-B visa program delivers “massive breaks” for cheap labor for tech companies, and those with the visas are essentially “indentured servants” for big tech.

The selection of Siriam Krishnan as a senior policy adviser for artificial intelligence in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy has sparked a widespread debate over the H1-B visa program, which conservatives have railed as “abusive” and designed to undercut wages of white-collar Americans.

Vivek Ramaswamy further enflamed the controversy when he claimed that America “has venerated mediocrity over excellence.”

Shanahan weighed into the debate, stating emphatically that the visa program has been abused to serve as corporate welfare, as it delivers “massive breaks” for cheap labor for big tech, and that these visa workers are “indentured servants” for big tech companies.

Breitbart News has long reported the countless incidents where white-collar Americans are laid off and forced to train their foreign replacements.

She continued:

The system we’ve constructed with H-1B visas, whether we like it or not, incentivizes people to come here and serve as essentially indentured servants for Big Tech, taking on the tough, grueling jobs that few here in America are excited to perform at the current suppressed salaries.

In return, if you’re good at your job, you’re then put on a fast track to get a Green Card, which means legal status and the chance to bring your family over through chain migration.

Well, she didn’t get the memo.

The old Rat party used to give a crap about worker job security and rights.

The NEW, hysterically anti-White Rat party is all in for The Great Replacement.

C’mon, Nicole, get with the program! American workers are so yesterday.

Get rid of H1-B visas and after that we can move on to getting rid of those student visas too (or at least cut them back by a lot)

For 60 years we have done this, and it doesn’t matter if it is construction workers, machine shops, food plants or IT workers, someone needs to stop it.

You left out the GOP composed of snakes like Romney, the Cheneys, McCain, the Bush Crime Family, Lindsey Graham, McConnell, Ryan, John Bohner, etc.

One of the problems with H1-Bs is that they don’t bring in the brightest and the best. H1-Bs are awarded by lottery, meaning merit is completely irrelevant. They get some good employees, but must of them are not.

Companies do realize that foreign resumes, especially from underdeveloped countries, are difficult to verify.

Sometimes the only way to verify is if there’s a licensing exam or a certification from an international trade organization.

Laying off American workers so they can be replaced by H-1B visa replacements is illegal and constitutes fraud because the hiring entity must affirm that there are no American workers who can fill that job function.

If the program is being abused - make the companies pay comparable wages. If we’re looking for top talent that’s great - - if it’s just cheap labor then change the pay incentive and the problem will go away on it’s own.

When I did some consulting work for the Atlanta Public Schools administration office, I was surprised to find myself in meetings with three gentlemen citizens from India who were working there. Curious, I asked, “Are these guys here on vacation or something?” They replied, “We could hire them or two Americans.”

That is just wrong.

This is like 5 million Americans really pissed off about this with 10,000 defending it. Why didn’t this come up in the campaign?

H1B is fraught with fraud. The category needs to be terminated and a new visa category created with very strict and very specific rules. The problem is all those rules will go out the door as soon as the Democrats are back.

there’s something dark about requiring an employee to train his replacement.

I wish there was some law that would require companies to pay 3X rates for such job requirements.

It’s like the border wall. The wall is in effect only when Republicans are in power. When a Democrat is president the wall is of no use - even if it were a 100 ft high wall, because the doors would remain wide open for tens of millions to walk through. There is no permanent immigration solution.

The businesses get cheap labor, the social costs are borne by the taxpayers.

We’re in the Twilight Zone. The Kennedy faction of the New administration is more “America First” than Trump’s golden boys in DOGE.

What’s the difference between corporations shipping your job off-shore and corporations bringing off-shore here to take your job?

Surely there’s cheap labor from Europe we could get.

President Trump will use Tariffs, reduced government contracts, or whatever other punishment he can think of.

Anyone asking this question has not been paying attention to the actions of President Trump!

Try to keep up Sherlock!
