Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson booted members of the public from a city meeting on his proposed 2025 budget on Monday after residents vocally protested against extensive funding for migrants.
While Johnson's 2025 budget narrowly passed on Monday, it was only after the mayor ordered a temporary recess to allow police to clear residents from the hall to allow council members to vote.
It took six weeks of debate for Johnson to secure the 26 votes necessary to pass the budget plan, with the opposition succeeding in removing a proposed $300 million property tax.
The plan also adopts a $40 million short-term loan that allows the city to delay paying off its debt, a major point of criticism for many of the protesters.
"You caused all this money to go to illegal immigrants," one resident told Johnson during the public comment period. "Anything that you all pass is not genuine."
Another resident accused Johnson of failing to "protect the people of Chicago from invasion.

Note the scare quotes around “invasion.” That’s what it IS.

So the mayor kicks the public out of the meeting. Something is very wrong here. How is it that hizzoner was not dragged out of there? I understand decorum, and we are not yet in the French Revolution, but you would let the mayor tell the town to pound sand? Was it one or two angry guys, or was it a torch and pitchfork level outpouring? If the latter, and they acquiesced, then sucks to be them. The government is doing what it wants to now because no one will stand up to them.

Illegals are the newest money laundering scheme to raid the US Treasury, making bureaucrats and NGO’S filthy rich. Modern day slave traders, really. Stop the posturing on law, principles, or legalities. Just follow the money. Tell the people where it goes.

Why not let Chicago deal with the problems it created for itself. There are other more willing areas of the country that can cooperatively use federal assistance to help clean up the immigration mess. Chicago should be on the bottom of the list of things to do.
Judging by the election Chicago loves illegals. Send more their way.
