The Killeen Police Department was dispatched early Wednesday morning after an exchange of gunfire between individuals allegedly stealing a car and the car’s owner, according to KPD.
Police spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said a resident was in his home at the 4400 block of Jeff Scott Drive when he heard one of his vehicles being started up in his driveway. He found that his sedan was being stolen after he went to investigate.
The resident followed the stolen vehicle in a Tahoe. When the driver in the stolen vehicle pulled into a cul-de-sac on Eula Bea Court, the vehicle’s owner stopped and left his vehicle and approached.
At that point, “one individual got out of the stolen vehicle and began to discharge a firearm towards him,” according to KPD.
The car owner returned fire, injuring the suspect, police said.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 12:30 a.m. Wednesday to the 4000 block of Eula Bea Court in reference to a gunshot victim.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital.
Police said the investigation is still active.
Unfortunately, you cannot rely on the police to do their job.
They didn’t say what kind of car it was?
Kia? Hyundai?
Nice work on the owners part.
Criminals caught stealing cars need to have their licenses revoked in perpetuity. In addition, they should never be allowed to register a vehicle - the same as they do removing computers from hackers and banking from financial criminals.
They hang horse thieves don’t they?
I am willing to be that probably 90% of the car thieves don’t have licenses.
Car-jackings have become very popular in this area lately. Don’t know what’s up.
Killeen is a rough ghetto town.
“ Killeen is a rough military ghetto town.”
Fort Hood for those who don’t know.
Screw that new name garbage.
I am willing to bet that over 90% of car thieves don’t know how to drive a manual transmission, somif you really don’t want your car stolen….
Most of the thieves in my area don't have licenses or insurance/registration. What they need is a bullet to the brain pan and let people who don't steal for a living go on about their day.
I was on a project at Fort Hood in the 90’s
All the soldiers got multi-tools
I would go to the pawn shops and pick them up for a couple of bucks
Soldiers gotta drink beer too
I had an amazing UFO experience at BLORA (Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area, belonged to Fort Hood)
Dozens of glowing orbs above the lake and over the acreage across the highway from the lake. Impossible accelerations and maneuvers.
And no, I wasn’t drinking like the major said I was
Darn Amish are never satisfied with their own buggies!
Crime is not only a complete disavowal of the social contract, but also a commandeering of the victim's person and liberty. If the individual's dignity lies in the fact that he is a moral agent engaging in actions of his own will, in free exchange with others, then crime always violates the victim's dignity. It is, in fact, an act of enslavement. Your wallet, your purse, or your car may not be worth your life, but your dignity is; and if it is not worth fighting for, it can hardly be said to exist.- Jeffrey Snyder
I love that quote.
Thanks.

I NEVER go to Killeen, Cove is as close as I get.
Fortunately, Strong Property Rights in Texas allow you to use Deadly Force to Stop a Felony.
“Is your property worth a life?”
That’s for the scumbag to decide.

I live in Cove and rarely stop in Killeen. I’d rather live in my van down by the river than in Killeen.
My daughter lives in that neighborhood.
They put the “Kill” in “Killeen”.
