ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A woman was killed in a car accident involving a Rome police officer who was responding to a bomb threat at Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s home, according to police.
The Floyd County Bomb Squad, which the officer is a member of, responded to the congresswoman’s home about the reported threat on Monday.
The accident happened on Redmond Circle while the officer was on the way to Greene’s home, according to Georgia State Patrol.
Troopers said a car pulled out in front of the officer, who was driving his personal vehicle.
The other driver, later identified as Tammie Pickelsimer, 66, died after she was taken to the hospital, according to troopers.
The officer involved was not injured.
“My prayers are with Tammie Pickelsimer, her family, the officer who was injured, and the entire Rome Police Department,” Greene said in a post on X, formerly Twitter. “These violent political threats have fatal consequences. It’s an undue strain on our law enforcement who must treat them seriously. The officer was responding to protect my life. And now, a woman has lost her life because of this despicable act.”
The crash is under investigation.
Yelling “Fire!” in a crowded theater. It’s not OK. The swatting has to stop.
The swatter, if found, needs to be prosecuted for manslaughter.
The caller has a serious problem.
I’m really surprised they haven’t done more to go after the idiots that are making these calls. This one is guilty of a real crime now. Their action caused the death of this woman.
I hear about swatting incidents all the time. what I never hear about is swatters being convicted and sentenced to decades in jail, that needs to change for public awareness.
Do you think NOW that they will actually trace that phone call?
Whoever made that bomb threat is responsible for that woman’s death.

Officer in his personal car was probably speeding, he/she is at fault as well.
“They” are not interested in pursuing the “swatters” because of who are the targets.
The individual responsible for the bomb threat should face the charge of manslaughter.

A cop shot an innocent man. An idiot in an online game gave a previous address he lived at and the other guy faked a 911 hostage call. The caller got 20 years in prison.
I know practically nothing about how this works, but since they can spam me with calls from faked locations, it must not hard to do. If you can spoof the 911 GPS, all you have to do is call. This is not the first swatting of Congresswoman Greene.
And they are probably doing over multiple VPNs to cover their tracks.
I hope they catch them.
The person who made the bomb threat should be convicted and publicly executed.
