Keith Olbermann blasts ex-protégé Rachel Maddow for lacking ‘principle’ over $25M-a-year MSNBC deal

Keith Olbermann blasted his former protégé Rachel Maddow for lacking “principle” after the MSNBC host reportedly signed a rich new contract to stay at the network — despite layoff fears and cratering ratings at the left-leaning cable channel.

Olbermann, who hosted the MSNBC prime time show “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” from 2003 to 2011, responded on X to journalist Jeff Jarvis’ observation that the Comcast-owned network “might have to change its identity” after parent company Comcast announced plans to spin off its cable assets.

Jarvis then wondered whether Maddow — who reportedly signed a five-year, 125-million deal last month on the heels of President-elect Donald Trump’s shocking victory — “should leave and build a new operation.”

How is Madcow going to collect when Musk buys MSNBC for a few hundred dollars and then fires her butch ass?

She gives almost all of it to charities of course.

Probably lives in a hut.

Eats cat food.

You know those kind and generous liberals :)

Good grief, Olber-not-a-man, Maddow has not told the truth for years. Need I make a list? She’s not stupid, but she has a doctorate in lying. Truth avoids her like a tranny avoids a male restroom.

MSNBC are purposefully using Maddow’s contract as a poison pill for potential buyers. She is a $125 million liability on the books that will come right off of the purchase price for the sad, little network.

...despite layoff fears and cratering ratings at the left-leaning extreme far left cable channel.

Corrected.

They could replace her with Mark Cuban, and no one would know the difference.

Maddow leave and build a new operation? Wouldn’t that require an audience?!

Love to see this, with cock-fight rules...fight to the death.
Would make millions on ppv.
Neither one of these two idiots are worth paying 10 cents, let alone the millions being wasted on them.

Maddow — who reportedly signed a five-year, 125-million deal

https://www.finance-monthly.com/2024/11/rachel-maddow-stays-at-msnbc-with-shocking-5-million-pay-cut/

MSNBC is facing some tough times, and even its top star, Rachel Maddow, isn’t escaping the budget cuts. According to The Ankler, a showbiz newsletter, Maddow has signed a new five-year deal with the network, but her salary is taking a hit, dropping from $30 million to $25 million over that period.

There is more in that contract than just a dollar figure. Doesn’t mean she will get that amount. would be interesting to read the whole contract.

news not clear that is 25 per year or for 5 years. I think it is for the 5 years.

Does this creepy creature have an audience?

I mean what does it do that’s going to bring in $125 million dollars?

Real businesses that intend to show a profit do not pay people more than what they contribute to the profitability of the business. But apparently that doesn’t apply to the liberal news networks

Does this creepy creature have an audience?

This question shows the somewhat insular nature of conservatives, the mirror image of Pauline Kael's "I wonder who voted for Nixon" in 1972. There are many in my circle of liberal friends who absolutely worship Rachel Maddow and send each other her quotes and snippets of her commentary each week. She is a thought leader among well educated urban whites, especially professional white women.

Former protege? Well, maybe, but crackpot Keith got himself fired and now resents anyone who can hold down a job in the asylum.
