MSNBC’s Barnicle: I Don’t Know How We Can Make Cable News ‘Relevant Again’
Breitbart ^

Posted on 11/19/2024 11:18:12 AM PST by Tench_Coxe

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” senior contributor Mike Barnicle said Tuesday that he doesn’t know how political commentators on cable news can make themselves “relevant again.”

Co-host Mika Brzezinski said, “New research shows one in five adults regularly get their news from influencers on social media. The number is even higher among younger Americans with almost 40% under the age of 30 getting their news from those sources. According to the Pew Research Center the social media site X remains the most widely accessed platform followed by Instagram and YouTube.”

Can't remember which pundit (Kuntsler maybe?) who said it, but "quit f-g lying" seems to be also echoed in the Breitbart comments. Bet even liberals that aren't looney tunes would respond similarly.

Its almost like they (mockingbirds) either can't help themselves, or are being paid/coerced, or a combination of both.

Mike Barnicle had to stop being a columnist for the Boston Globe because he got caught plagiarizing and fabricating, over and over again . And because he lied about it.

This from Slate, of all places!

Wanna make Cable News relevant, Barnicle? GET INTO ANOTHER LINE OF WORK.

Quit lying. Ask an honest question, then shut up and listen to the answer. If they don’t answer, follow up as many times as you need to until they give you an answer. Treat all guests the same way. Duh!

Co-host Joe Scarborough said, “Mike, that’s the challenge, you grew up in a newsroom like Eugene grew up in a newsroom, I mean that’s a challenge for a lot of mainstream media sources is do they make themselves relevant again. Here, 20% of adults who actually get influencers on social media. Maybe somebody who makes baskets and while they’re making baskets, they look up and say, vote for candidate X.”

so basket makers have more influence than fake news?

CIA could get away with Operation Mockingbird in the past.

These days people are seeing through the BS.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of the old McLaughlin Group, but it was usually worth watching. You had Pat Buchanan on one side, and Eleanor Cliff on the other.

All sides of an issue were respectfully presented. I don’t think anything like that is available on cable these days.

Let cable news fade in irrelevant obscurity like Newspapers.

The only way to stop it is through subsidization by government.

Not going to happen with Trump as President.

Let them die. Television has been a disaster at least since 1970.

We will end up with a fractured, partisan media, which is what existed at the founding.

An ideologically unified media is what we had from 1950-60 to about 1994. It was a disaster for the United States.

Right now, anyone under 50 is probably getting their news from their smartphone, not cable.
