Attorneys for X Corp., the firm established by Elon Musk to take over Twitter, filed a notice of appearance on Thursday in the bankruptcy case of Alex Jones and his Infowars platform.
The new owners of satirical news site The Onion had been declared the successful bidders for Jones’ controversial platform, alongside families of the Sandy Hook massacre victims.
But this week, the Texas bankruptcy judge overhearing the case voiced concerns about the transparency of the auction process and called for a new hearing to discuss those potential issues.
“Nobody should feel comfortable with the results of the auction,” Judge Christopher M. Lopez said, according to a Bloomberg News report.
The X Corp. filing, dated Nov. 14 and first reported by Mother Jones, does not disclose the purpose of X’s appearance, other than to state the rights reserved to it as an interested party, and to request all relevant documents in the case.
Oh, boy!
I’d like to put in a bid on behalf of the Babylon Bee.
YAY!!
In the Alex Jone breakup, who gets custody of his supplements?
Some are Life Survival Shield X-2, bottle of iodine supplement, Life Super Male Vitality drops and Superblue toothpaste.
The Onion is Colbert to the BB’s Gutfeld.
Would love to see that smug bastid from the Onion have to eat crow.
Yes!
Daddy Elon bringing in the big guns (and his $300 billion fortune) to squash The Onion like a bug...
It was some kind of crazy scheme based on future earnings to be given to families.
The First and Eighth Amendments are clearly violated in Alex Jones’s persecution lawfare case.
I’ve searched also and can’t find any mention of the amount bid by the Onion. Whatever the amount I bet Elon has that much change in his pockets.
Maybe in a real auction he will bid.
I’m hoping he will wait for their impending bankruptcy and buy CNN, ABC, and CBS !
Basically, it was a rigged auction and https://www.infowars.com/ lives on for the time being.
Will Musk get it in a proper auction and then sell it back to Jones for $1.00?
Musk buying InfoWars and selling it back to Jones for $1, andThat would be deliciously diabolical
I was never an Alex Jones fan, but I also not a fan of corruption.
This article leaves out all most all of the horrid details.
I hear there may be a criminal investigation into the illegal actions used by the Federal trusties that work for the DOJ. The judge actually said that this was not an auction. And I hear it was supposed to be pre-apporved by the court but was not. It was supposed to be a cash auction to the highest bidder. But the Onion bought it based on promises of future earnings from plaintiffs in the case whose compensation is not even certain. The rules of the auction were changed last minute in order for this to happen. All the bidders to sign NDA’s. On top of that they raided Infowars offices and shut down there ISPs without a court order or court approval of the auction results. The list is huge and the previous DOJ Trustee was fired by the judge for using the same kind of illegal tactics.
Then the Onion went on TV making false claims and calling themselves the new owners even though that was not approved by the courts. They also slandered Alex Jones.
I think it will be a hoot if Alex Jones ends up owning the Onion and is able to use it to pay off some of his judgement in case, which was every bit as corrupt as the ones against Trump.
Jone cannot buy it back because then it would taken from him again. Someone else has to own it and then pay him a modest salary to work there. Jone’s can make a certain amount to live that they cannot take from him. Something to do with Texas homesteading rules.
“ They also slandered Alex Jones.”
You mean the guy who slandered the Sandy Hook parents. The guy is a fat pant load.
The Federal Trustie forced all bidders to sign an NDA so that No one would ever know what the actual high bid was. They also added something to the rules last minute that allowed them the right to sell it to someone other than the highest cash bidder. They were willing to do anything to keep anyone friendly to Jones from winning the action.
That was definitely a bad move by Jones. But you think that because he made a mistake that everyone else is above the law when it comes to getting him.
You either believe that the law must be applied justly to everyone or else you are no better than a frosting at the mouth prosecutor using law-fair to go after Trump. Or a legal system that places democrats above the law.
Jones should be punished, but punished within the law.
