The first shooting was reported around 11 a.m. Sunday in the 3300 block of West Second Street.
A group of five people were attempting to break into a house when the resident fired a gun.
“This was part of an ongoing crime spree involving the victim, who was shot, and he had four juvenile suspects with him,” Johns said.
All five were armed with handguns.
“When the shooting occurred, they had went to the residence there, dismantled the Ring cameras that were outside the residence and tried to force their way into the residence,” the police major said.
The resident then fired a shot, which hit the 23-year-old man in the head.
The man was taken to a local hospital and is in critical condition. All four juvenile suspects were taken into custody.
Johns said the group also was involved in a similar break-in on Kammer Avenue. The suspects were armed, dismantled cameras and broke into the residence before stealing property.
“That’s a pretty alarming crime to happen on a Sunday afternoon in broad daylight,” Johns said.
Poorly written headline and article.

Good shooting, though.
lol
Mass shooting are horrific (as are mass murders from bombs or driving one’s car into a crowd) but I bet the number killed from those types of crimes are so low compared to gang shootings and robberies gone bad etc.
But those stories don’t help the anti 2nd ammendment crowd.
It was confusing at first.
No identification of the perps so it is likely they were either Teens or wetbacks. The number of guns with the perps suggests Teens.
A squirrel (or raccoon) doesn't move around this place that I'm not aware of it.
I'm not the hermit this makes me sound like, but I do now get to make conscious decisions when I expose myself to the diseased riff-raff of the cities, which is seldom.
Head shots tend to tamp that aggression down a notch.
Have you plugged into the small towns security network?
If things go really bad, you need to be part of the network, which is what a spontaneously organized militia would likely coalesce around.
This shit has gotten out of control.
…two dead in O - hi - oh….
Hat tip to CSNY
I grew up in Northern Wisconsin, in somewhat similar circumstances.
Country boys think differently than city boys.
I agree the POS should be referred to as the “winner of the FAFO award”.
Or if you are into the crappy CSI Miami, a tip of the sunglasses.
probably regurgitated by AI without human editorial intervention ...
It’s everywhere. It’s so bad that people actually think they are speaking correct English grammar.
“This was part of an ongoing crime spree involving the victim, who was shot, and he had four juvenile suspects with him,” Johns said.
The victim is the homeowner, not the criminal, who was deservedly shot and not a victim.
Unless I read the article wrong it was poorly written.
But they're amazing young people. If I have them over for a meal, they won't even think about starting the meal without a prayer. Their typical day after getting home from school was doing "MMA fighting" in one-anothers' back yards (most have graduated now, and started getting out in the world).
Now they're entering the workforce, and are hungry for money. I bought one his first pair of steel-toed boots the other day, so that he could meet his employers' requirements.
So, basically I've got an army of "ninjas" who have enriched my life as much as I've helped them. When I go out to purchase emergency preps, I prep as much for them and their loved ones as I do for myself.
Today I'm assisting one with getting his first credit card, along with teaching him how to use it wisely.
And then there are the amazing Mexican-American workers here and Mennonites (who did all my concrete work). My time here in this "run down" little town has been more fulfilling than I can describe.
So, I'm well plugged into the community.

From the Captain, “they had went to.”
