Democrat Sen. Mazie Hirono Claims SCOTUS Created Ability to Own Guns in 2008

During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday Sen. Mazie Hirono (D) claimed the Supreme Court of the United States created the ability to own guns via Heller (2008).

In video published by Forbes, Hirono began her opening remarks by referencing an earlier hearing in which the “entire panel” of witnesses agreed that “this nation is awash in guns.

She went on to stress the phrase “awash in guns” at least three more times, then said, “Meanwhile, the Supreme Court in various decisions, Heller was pretty much an astounding decision to me when suddenly, individual could, [under] the Second Amendment, individuals could own firearms.”

Prior to the passage of the 14th Amendment, states and localities unquestionably had the right to limit guns because the Bill of Rights applied only to the federal government. States could regulate speech and religion too.

Sen. Mazie Hirono (D) must immediately surrender her right to be protected by anyone armed, surrender any firearms she owns, and be removed from any police response for her sake that involves armed officers.

She can call EMTs and the Fire Department if she needs but her phone needs to be blocked from police response.

She should be precluded from any right she insists on denying others.

Until Heller, the Supreme Court had never said that individuals had the right to own firearms. Federal and state courts had ruled that Chicago. Wash D.C. etc could totally ban firearms for individuals. Heller was the start of the end for gun bans.
