A United States Post Office clerk went into work the day after the 2024 presidential election wearing Trump attire and was asked to change clothes.
Michelle Albert, 57, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, says she felt “violated and embarrassed” soon after beginning her shift at the distribution center in Warrendale.
“It’s the day after he won,” she says. “You should be able to wear what you want.
Michelle began her workday like any other. “At 3:00 PM, I clocked in and I was staying there waiting for our pre-sort,” she recalls.
“My MDO [manager, distribution operations] walked up to me. She came charging out of the office and she came right up to me and pointed at me. And she said, ‘You can’t wear that here.’ I said, ‘Why can’t I? The election is over. Trump won.’”

Liberal azhos are such a bunch of crybaby azhos. They cry and throw tantrums all of the time. Now wonder their always pissed off and full of hate. If I was like that, I’d spend all my time getting drunk and choking down drugs too.
Just wear a plain red shirt.
I’ll bet her MDO was a GHETTOPOTAMUS.
Well, in a couple of months, a photo of the real president’s face should be on the wall, watching over all of them.
You have to be slightly more subtle than this.
“The United States Post Office in Warrendale, Pennsylvania stated that employees are prohibited from wearing attire related to elections while on duty.”
The election was over. So how can they say it was related to elections?
The smell of lawsuit in the morning.
It took more than 18 months for my local Forest Service field office (went in to buy maps) and the local Post Office branch to get them last time.
You are working a government job. Use some common sense.
That’s the important question.
I don’t think USPS employees should show any political favoritism on the job, but restrictions should be fair and the same for everyone.
The USPS is an agency of the federal government.
Employees shouldn’t be showing their personal political leanings on the job.
It should.
If you’re public facing staff you’re representing the organization, and the USPS should be politically neutral.
Content neutral rules are not suspect.
I have a feeling the dress code spells out what type of attire is permitted. Most likely politically affiliated clothing or accessories are not allowed. The specifics for the wearing of uniforms is rather extensive.
I doubt it. The rules for uniforms is rather extensively spelled out the employee should know that nowhere in those rules is it written “We should be allowed to wear whatever we want.” or such.
Does it say “only prior to elections”?
On what grounds?
THEN WHY THE HELL DO THEY HAVE THE PRESIDENT’S PICTURE HANGING UP IN THEIR OFFICES AND PICTURES OF PRESIDENTS ON STAMPS?
Pennsylvania Ping!
Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
They carry barn beams on their shoulders waiting to be “offended”.
