Mattel may be safe from the Wicked Witch of the West, but it has had to issue a mea culpa to avoid the wrath of angry parents.
The toy company said the web address for a pornography company was mistakenly printed on the packaging for dolls tied to the new film “Wicked” instead of the official website for the upcoming Universal Pictures release.
Social-media users pointed out the mistake, noting that the URL directs to an adult-content website. The film’s website is wickedmovie.com. The URL on the box omits the word “movie.”
“We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this,” Mattel said, adding that the misprint affected dolls primarily sold in the U.S. “Parents are advised that the misprinted, incorrect website is not appropriate for children.”
The company didn’t disclose how many toys were affected or if it was recalling any products. Mattel said customers who purchased the toys should discard the packaging or obscure the web address.
As of Sunday, the dolls were being sold by Amazon, Target and other retailers. On Monday morning, a Target link to the dolls said, “We’re sorry, but the item you’re looking for is not available at Target.” A similar link on Amazon said the product was “currently unavailable.”
Amazon and Target didn’t respond to requests for comment.
The highly anticipated two-part film starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande is an adaptation of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical based on characters from “The Wizard of Oz.”
“Wicked Part I” opens in the U.S. on Nov. 22, with the second part scheduled for Nov. 21, 2025.
Universal Pictures didn’t respond to a request for comment.
Wicked Pictures is the adult-entertainment company whose site is erroneously printed on the Mattel packaging. Established in 1993 in Canoga Park...

MOMMY LOOK !!
This toy’s package will become a collector’s item because of the error.
I’m thinking those boxes will be a collectors item soon and worth some money.
That wouldn’t be surprising to me.
Some are simple. "For the 10,000th time, the abbreviation for the label for "assortment" is "AST", not "ASST". If there are too many characters, the T gets left off.'
Yeah, sure. It was all just a mistake.
Mommy look! You are on the TV!
Coworker at my job once put in the shipping tage for aisle display units as “Assorted Make UP FUs” that were to be printed, applied and sent out to 800 stores. My boss was not at all amused at the time.
Mommy, why did Daddy hide my box by his computer?
It probably was. If a movie is called wicked, and there’s a URL to it, it’d be very easy to go to wicked’s porn site if you didn’t type it exactly correctly
Disgusting, but the box is probably a collector’s item, now.
They are already projecting Wicked to be a huge flop.
「probably was. If a movie is called wicked, and there’s a URL to it, it’d be very easy to go to wicked’s porn site if you didn’t type it exactly correctly」
Read more carefully:
“The toy company said the web address for a pornography company was mistakenly printed on the packaging for dolls tied to the new film “Wicked” instead of the official website for the upcoming Universal Pictures release.”
It’s not the kids mistyping it.
Yeah, and for someone programming the box printer at the factory, how easy of a mistake would it be? Putting wicked instead of wickedmovie was most likely an honest and unfortunate mistake.
I don’t have to read closer. I read the entirety thing.
But it was uneasy to understand if stupid error. Not everything is a conspiracy
Wicked. Thats the name of this stupid show. We stayed away from it 20 years ago when it was on broadway and now I avoid movie previews because I don’t want to see This ugly ugly trailer
The exploration of the villain is not any kind of a classic theme of art it is evil. And that’s all it is
Because it is evil, the pathways and openings to evil are strong
On line porn is evil
Of course this happened
The worst offenders are idiot mothers who introduce this pure garbage to their kids
Disney probably owns both websites
