San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa made waves two weeks ago when he crashed teammate Brock Purdy's postgame interview on Sunday Night Football wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat.
Asked by reporters after the game if he wanted to discuss his endorsement of Donald Trump, Bosa declined. The 2022 NFL Defensive Player of the Year could still possibly face a fine from the league for violating its policy against making political statements, but when approached by reporters today following Trump's election victory Tuesday, Bosa was not sweating that possibility.
“It was well worth it," Bosa said about potentially being fined. "I don't think my position on speaking about it is going to change. Clearly, the nation spoke and we got what we got."
Bosa is correct that Trump's victory was an eye-opening one--he not only crushed Kamala Harris in the Electoral College but also became the first Republican in 20 years to win the popular vote.
However, while the four-time Pro Bowler doesn't want to say much about his political views, his comments today were enough to spark reaction.

"This honestly feels like it could be the end of my time as a Niners fan. The team giving him this platform when the NFL/Niners crucified Colin Kaepernick says everything I need to know," one person wrote.
"9ers by 40," another person said.
"Incoming overreactions," a third added.
"I love that he waited to say anything until they won. Coward s--t," a fourth person chimed in.
"If he don’t stfu and just play football like our defense is mid b---h…can’t believe he used to be one of my favorite players lmfao bye," another 49ers fan added.
Bosa also said he stayed up late and had "a good time" watching the election results roll in.
Harris, the current Vice President and Democratic nominee, reportedly spoke with Trump Wednesday afternoon, congratulating him on the win and pledging assistance in the smooth and peaceful transition of power.
The 49ers better watch out. There are a lot of devout Christians on the team, and the media hasn't figured it out yet. It's not from the owner/management/top coaches.
F Roger Goodell
That’s the job of Asia, sex-trafficked masseuses. I say launch him into space. Or make him the commissioner of a Saudi soccer league.
Anything other than a small fine for rule violation for wearing political gear while in uniform (unlike blm gear while playing) ?
Still ok to kneel during the anthem?
He’s a disgrace!!!
In fact, the 49ers should trade him to the Jets IMMEDIATELY!! :) (Yes God forgive me I’m a Jets fan)
I think the trade deadline is past :(
A paesano in NJ to join Williams and Reddick and McDonald.
Alas, NO WAY the 49ers are getting rid of him.
He’s not a gangster like his well known great grandfather was, which is a good thing.
But he is tough.
And a brutally strong defensive lineman.
The NFL looks down on political statements?
That’s rich. How about all the players that had Black Lives Matter on the back of their helmets?
I don’t get it, it is okay to take a knee, put pigs on socks EMBRACE SOCIAL JUSTICE causes openly on the field, but Not politics? Roger Goodell may be good for NFL business, but he is a bad human being.
