NOAA/NHC ^

Posted on 11/04/2024 1:02:16 PM PST by NautiNurse
Tropical Storm Rafael formed south of Jamaica in the Caribbean Sea. The forecast anticipates strengthening into a hurricane south of Western Cuba, before advancing northwest into the Gulf of Mexico later this week. Given significant uncertainties in the long-range forecast track and intensity, it is too soon to determine what, if any, impacts could occur.
Watches and warnings have been issued for the Lower and Middle FL Keys, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, and Western Cuba.

My tree service guy is due here momentarily to give estimate for removing uprooted and otherwise damaged and felled trees from Milton. He’s been busier than a one-armed wallpaper hanger.

How are you doing after Helene and Milton? My family in Tampa/St. Pete/ central Florida were without power for about a week for some, no water for others for a week. Everything’s fine now but now one has major health issues to contend with. They don’t need any more trouble.

We got hit by a hurricane (Beryl) in July. We are still waiting for a roofer to fix the leaks and a fence company to replace a 65 foot run of fence. I have it standing up with T posts and zip ties. I think we will get a new fence next week.

I can only imagine! Life is good for tree service and debris / junk removal guys in your part of Florida these days. Sadly for the victims of the storms, like you.
Hope all is well with you and yours otherwise. Been thinking about you very often, FRiend. 🤗

Hanging in there. Bursts of activity one week, then slow progress the next. Electrical wiring, hot water heater, pool pump and car replaced quickly. Still running two dehumidifiers awaiting cabinet tearout in multiple rooms.
Have honed my chainsaw and oscillating tool skills. Clearing blackwater from pool after replacing pump is a slow and tedious process. Water table is too high to backwash appreciable amounts of water at a time.
Tree removal estimate is nearing $10,000. Ouch.
