Republican voters appear to be running up big leads during the opening stages of early voting in at least four of seven battleground states, in some cases not only chipping into mail-in ballot advantages that Democrats have built over the past few election cycles but surpassing them.
Overall, nearly 33 million Americans nationwide had already cast ballots in the Nov. 5 election as of Friday, with at least 15 million doing so in the 36 states where early voting is underway and 17.89 million mailing in their ballots, according to the University of Florida’s U.S. Election Lab…
…
… While Georgia, Wisconsin and Michigan early voting trends are inconclusive, and those in Arizona, North Carolina and Pennsylvania appear to favor Republicans, nowhere among the seven battleground states is the GOP enjoying a better pre-Election Day turnout than in Nevada.
According to Nevada Secretary of State numbers posted on Friday by Election Lab, 17,000 more Republicans had already voted than Democrats — 162,629 (39.8%) to 145,621 (35.6%), with 100,585 nonpartisans also voting in-person early.
That advantage is fueled by a significant lead in early in-person voting, which began on Oct. 19. According to Election Lab, 91,674 GOP voters, or 52% of Nevada’s 176,679 in-person early tally, had cast their ballots compared to 47,613 Democrats (27%) and 37,392 nonpartisans (21.2%).
Democrats had an 81,222 to 57,658 lead in mail-in ballots, with 232,156 of 1.975 million requested returned.
All Nevada voters automatically receive ballots in the mail unless they opt out, and the state offers same-day registration on Election Day.

It’s going be be funny AF watching California and Minnesota (among others) award their electoral votes to Trump thanks to the “National Popular Vote Compact” that these states signed into law thinking no Republican would ever again win the popular vote.
“ It’s going be be funny AF watching California and Minnesota (among others) award their electoral votes to Trump thanks to the “National Popular Vote Compact” ”
That’d be great, but it’s not the law and they won’t do it.
I have a question which I hope is misguided. If you get more of your supporters to vote early, is it possible you’ll then have less on election day? Republicans are counting on dominating election day. Could we have just shifted our votes without increasing them?
Or, they might suddenly “Realize” that they are in conflict with the Constitution and renege.
Oh yeah, absolutely. Guarantee if Trump wins the popular vote (a longshot bet) all of these NPV Compact states are going to suddenly forget about the laws they put on the books. Or they’ll be repealed instantly.
This has been a concern of mine as well. This is why Trump went on Rogan. It’s a massive GOTV effort to low-impact young male voters who support Trump but might not have ever voted before. They need to be motivated to put down their PlayStation controllers, get up off the sofa, and go vote on Election Day.
Of course not. It should be reminded though that Minnesota’s “NPV Compact” law has Governor Walz’s signature on it.
Gov. Jerry Brown signed CA’s law.
That is a fair question. I was trying to figure out how to frame that.
I think there are a couple of things at play...it will possibly reduce the issues of voter access that mysteriously happen on voting day, running out of ballots, issues with equipment, etc.
Water pipe breaks.
And, it will get votes casted before the Left can roll out their “October Surprises”, and I think that terrified them because they didn’t think it through.
People will cast their votes before the Left can sling the mud, and they won’t be able to change those.
To me, that explains why this week they suddenly went mental trotting out a whole series of “October Surprises”. I think.
Yeah.
They say it doesn’t go in to effect until enough states sign it to provide 270 electoral votes. They’re at now.
Ok, so people voting early for Rs in numbers they haven’t before, that meanss there’s enthusiasm among R voters.
The voting early in person isnt happening in a vacuum.
It means there’s a lot of people who are excited about Trump and will vote.
LOTS of Rs work and have families and they get some time off on election day to vote...theyre not showing up early.
I personalky had never considered changing when I vote, no matter my excitement..I have always voted day of.
So maybe a bunch of those early, in person voters weren’t gonna vote at all...because of age, ailments, whatever.
I’m liking this.
Or maybe I’m completley wrong :)
It’s possible, but I think what happens is you get a higher overall vote total if you run up the early vote. For one thing you don’t have as much ‘leakage’. In other words, a guaranteed vote which doesn’t show up due to illness, weather, job, etc. That’s probably worth 2% of the total. Also, once the vote is in the bank, the GOTV efforts can narrow their focus onto other potential Trump voters.
And then there are certain voters you want mailing in their vote to guarantee you get the vote. I know at least 2 guys in our precinct who are over 90. They’re voting in person. I wish they had mailed in their votes. Yeah, I want 90 year old guys standing in line for an hour to vote Trump, but then you can’t tell old people anything.
Voting early is relatively new here in Pennsylvania. We’ve always had absentee, but that’s only for actual absences, not, I don’t feel like standing in line at the township building.
I voted by mail this year. They mailed me the ballot several weeks ago, I filled it out, and 2 weeks ago I walked it into the county election office. I could fall down a well or get hit by a bus. Plus, whatever ballot chasers they have out there can see they don’t need to worry about Big E, he’s in the boat. Also, I’m going to be working the polls, which will be mobbed, so filling out my own ballot is one less thing I need to do. Every cycle, I’ll look at the clock, and it’s 7pm, and I say, where’s fill-in-the-blank? You know, that guaranteed GOP voter who always shows up, but didn’t? There’s always some of them. Vote now. Don’t be that guy who meant to show up but didn’t.
That electoral vote compact is not in effect yet.
The agreement among the states, is that it would go into effect if the states participating combined , had at least two hundred seventy electoral votes, meaning a majority of electoral votes to be cast in the election.
So this electoral vote compact is a non issue this year.
I think you are right. This is a piece of the puzzle that has room for optimism.
I have had to reconsider the early voting. I was 100% dead set against it. I realized it was because I am such a strict traditionalist. I am still against it, but if THEY are doing it, WE should be doing it too.
They didn’t expect this from us.
I’m voting election day in person.
The low propensity voter. That’s a large untapped group.
Voting tomorrow at 9am in Nevada
Well I’m not going to let my vote hang out in some bin somewhere for days on end where anything could happen between now and election day.
The Compact is non-binding, is it not? What happens if a Republican wins the national popular vote, but California was won by the Democrat whose electoral votes would secure their victory? What stops California’s legislature from repealing it and giving the electoral votes to the Democrat so they win?
