Representative James Clyburn, a South Carolina Democrat, told CNN's Dana Bash on Sunday morning he is "concerned" about Black men voting for former President Donald Trump in this year's election.
Trump, the GOP presidential nominee, has touted his support among Black men, saying at a campaign rally in Nevada on Friday, "I have gone through the roof with Black men." Meanwhile, recent polls find Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, is struggling among Black men. If elected, Harris, who is of Indian and Black Jamaican ancestry, would be the first female president, first Black female president and second Black president.
"Are you concerned about Black men voting for Trump or staying home?" Bash asked Clyburn on CNN's State of the Union.
The congressman responded: "Yes, I am concerned about Black men staying home or voting for Trump. But my concerns don't tend to keep me from being energetic about this campaign."
When Bash asked Clyburn what specifically made him concerned when he talked to people in Michigan, including Black men, Black religious leaders and Black union workers, last weekend, he said, "When people raised questions about what does [Harris] stand for? And I tend to ask them, don't tell me what you hear, tell me what you feel. What do you feel about her as opposed to what you experienced for four years under Trump?"
He continued: "And I have yet to find one single person that can tell me one thing that they got out of the Trump administration except, as a few of them said to me, 'Well we got a stimulus check.' And I said to them, 'Don't you know that Congress appropriates money?'"
Newsweek has reached out to Trump's and Harris' campaign for comment via email on Sunday afternoon.

Concerned???? Concerned???
How about a full-blown, head-on panic attack.
No such concern about black women. Mindless drones.
They're married to Uncle Sam. Thanks to LBJ's Great Society.
That is just a new low even for Jim Clyburn.
Translated: “We are losing control of the (economic) plantation”
no democracy for you!
Shut up, you racist POS.
This wicked bastard, as much as any single person, is responsible for foisting a cognitively-compromised President on us. Power above all; the benefit and security of the nation a distant secondary consideration . May his name be blotted out
So after Obama bombed will they send Clyburn out to crack the whip and bring the negroes back to the plantation?
If free black men get too numerous will the overseers at the Dem Plantation pay a bounty to get them back in iron shackles?
Maybe use library records to track them if they read books by Dr. Ben Carson or Thomas Sowell.
And find no contributions from their bank accounts or credit cards to BLM and the Dem Party.
Crazy Jimmie took “Stay out the Bushes” to “Stay on da plantation.”
Clyburn “concerned” about Black men voting for former President Donald Trump?
He should have been honestly concerned about blacks all through his years in office.
Lip service does no one any good except the pol.
Oh look. The Kapo designated to keep the back men on the plantation is talking now.
How dare they think for themselves and vote their best interest.
Black people are starting to see who the real slave masters are.
THEY THINK THEY OWN THE BLACK VOTE!
isn’t he the one who lied that a protestor had called him the n-word when Pelosi and her Kkkcrats were parading in the street to celebrate pushing through Obamacare?
Overseer Clyburn has a bone to pick over loyalty to the party
“..isn’t he the one who lied that a protestor had called him the n-word when Pelosi and her Kkkcrats were parading in the street to celebrate pushing through Obamacare?...”
I don’t think so.
IIRC, it was one of the “milk duds” (John Lewis) that claimed he was called the n-word.
Black men aren’t the only ones. Black women are pealing
away also. Can’t say they are large numbers, but there are
some very sharp Black ladies out there who have tuned in to
what the democrats have done since the CW.
