Jimmy Carter Asked: When Is Abortion Murder?
PJ Media ^ | 10/03/2024 | Greg Byrnes

Posted on 10/03/2024 6:53:49 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Happy belated 100th Birthday, President Carter! If I'd remembered, I'd have baked you a cake. But first, an apology. I spent many years beating you up in the press, only to now wish the Democrat Party had one-thousandth of what you brought to public life. But more of that in a moment.

From the get-go, I underestimated you. I remember a Democrat friend dragging me to a small gathering with maybe 30 young people in which you gave a short talk about your plan to become president. Your comments would soon go nationwide. All that folksy "I'll never lie to you" and "I'll restore dignity to the White House." I thought I was in Sunday school. And being someone who thought Dick Nixon should not have resigned (and I still don't), it all seemed a bit too high and mighty for my tastes.

Either way, I told my friend this guy has no chance — zero, nada. And yet, as things happened, Carter would show up everywhere. Talk about retail politics! I swear Carter must have been hitting every local diner in the country in his spare moments. I remember seeing him at one event where one of his opponents, a businessman whose name is lost in the mists of time, said if elected president, he was going to put a man on Mars. In my opinion, that guy had a better shot at being president than good ole boy Jimmy. I mean, was Carter even a good governor?

I am neither a prophet nor the son of a prophet. And now, I would like to present to the jury of public opinion videotape evidence that Jimmy Carter would be called a right-wing extremist in today's Democrat Party. Not that he would ever lie to you on national TV. So let's stipulate he is saying what he truly thinks and believes. Here, the great Robert Novak is questioning him on CBS's Face The Nation. Bob would probably not get through the door of any major news network today. But the so-called Prince of Darkness could cut to the chase in his direct questioning.

Novak asks Carter if he thinks abortion is murder. The archive video is not broken out, so you will have to click to the 19-minute mark segment. The transcript is below.

CLICK THIS LINK FOR THE VIDEO

TRANSCRIPT:

Novak: I just brought up the abortion issue. And you say on the campaign stump that some people think that abortion is murder? Do you?

Carter: That's a hard question for me to answer. I...I have a deep feeling that abortion is wrong. At what stage in the development of a fetus it becomes murder, I can't say. But I wish there were never any abortions. It really bothers me about it. The Supreme Court has ruled that in the first 13 weeks, the mother and the doctor have a right to have an abortion. I wish that there were no abortions, but I can't say at what point the abortion becomes murder.

Jimmy Carter was largely fake, he was pro-abortion, and when given great power and great wealth and great leadership over the people he wore that mantle as a pro-abortion leader.

Everyone knows how the Catholic politicians are “personally opposed to abortion....but” and are pro-abortion leaders.

Carter was a Southern Baptist, as was Bill Clinton, and Al Gore, all “personally opposed to abortion....but” and they were all pro-abortion leaders, the only difference is that ALL three of those men left the Southern Baptists once they retired from campaigning for office, which tells you something about how deep or shallow their Christian faith was.

When he was running for office, in many states, Democrats were the pro-life party, and Republicans were the pro-abortion party. A similar shift is taking place today as abortion politics returns to the states. No party has a lock on the votes of social conservatives.

In the election that made Carter president, Republican President Gerald Ford was not pro-life. Carter beat him in part because of social conservative support, especially given his clear statement of distaste for abortion.

This is a bit disingenuous. The Democratic party of 2024 is nothing like the Democrat Party of 1976, and now pretty much uniformly supports abortion on demand. Almost all Republicans are significantly to the right of that. Some social conservatives may stay home, but the number that vote Democrat because of those social conservative issues is miniscule.

International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights

Article 6
1. Every human being has the inherent right to life. This right shall be protected by law. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his life....

https://www.ohchr.org/sites/default/files/Documents/ProfessionalInterest/ccpr.pdf

The United States is a state party.

I think it’s a being, doc. The ultrasound shows it has a beating heart, sort of like a baby bird in a nest.

Do you think it is human?

Maybe that can be proven by analyzing its chromosomes and DNA.

ARTICLE 4 of the Constitution of the United States:

“all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, any thing in the constitution or laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding.”

This guy was bad news and gooby. Gave away the Panama Canal. He didn’t like America, thought we were rich fat cats that didn’t deserve the wealth and he was going to equalize things. Example of compromising Christianity, just like our current speaker.

I think this writer might be wrong, the right or the left was pushing abortion and had legalized it is many states before Roe, and I think the pressure was from the left, it is just that everyone was soft stepping and being vague on the issue.

1972-”George McGovern. Although McGovern was characterized at the time as a left-wing extremist who would remake the Democrats as the party of “amnesty, acid and abortion,” he favored allowing states to decide on their abortion policy”

“and at his instruction the Democratic platform that year contained no reference at all to the abortion issue.”

“Even four years later, in the wake of the calamitous 1973 Roe v. Wade U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion nationally, the 1976 Democratic platform confined itself to a comment that it was “undesirable” to amend the Constitution to overturn that decision”

When does the soul inhabit the incipient body?

That is a theological question and beyond the scope of the US government.

Therefore, Article 10 leaves that decision to the states.

States may have the legal authority, but do they have the wisdom?

I don’t, and I doubt very seriously that a bunch of state politicians do either!

Clearly, Democrat abortionists get their marching orders from Planned Parenthood.

These scum don’t believe in a soul. To them humans are just animals to be herded and slaughtered by the other animals in power. Your behavior is determined by your DNA. This is the height of human philosophy today. Itt high priests are the psychologists and psychiatrists. Two of the most evil professions in history.

Big pharma, public universities and planned parenthood are working together to commit atrocities (for your own good, to cure cancer or Alzheimer’s or whatever else you’re afraid of). The answer to this question is always. Anytime an innocent is executed.
Every state with a heartbeat law has legalized execution of the innocent for incest, rape and health of the mother,
What kind of mother would sacrifice their life for their own child?
This is the single issue the left is running on. I get mailers everyday with the lie that rape, invest and health are not going to be excepted.
The dollars behind this have already made the entire Republican Party in for planned parenthood’s abortion mills.
Every reasonable woman knows why men love abortion.
Trump, Vance and the Republicans are helping planned parenthood hide rape and investment their support of abortion.
The dangers of chemical abortion are being covered up by big government medical. The dangers are very real. Think about it. Pull one kills the bsby, pull two dilates and contracts to deliver the dead baby. Watch unplanned and open your heart to truth. Stop the exploitation of wombs.

For what it is worth, abortion thrives because of the female voter, the males vote for the anti-abortion party.

With your line of reasoning we could decaptitate ten year olds. Maybe their soul hasn’t entered yet. Completely arbitrary.

Human beings are living creatures with human DNA.

Unborn people fit the criteria. Killing them is murder. It doesn’t matter how far along they are.

It becomes murder when there are signs of life, that easy

There are a large number of adults who act like they have no soul, the world would be a better, but less interesting/exciting without them.

Not my call or yours.

And, as a religious question, definitely beyond the federal government's purview.

Human beings are living creatures with human DNA.

Cows, chickens, pigs and tuna are also living creatures with species appropriate DNA. They're okay to kill and eat because they are generally thought of as not having souls.

The closest we come to a Biblical setting of when a living creature with human DNA becomes a person is God breathing life into Adam. At that point he became a spiritual being in a human body.

I've personally heard one religious leader assert that babies get a soul with their first breath.

I think it's earlier, but like that religious leader I can't objectively prove or define a point where that happens.

I'm pretty sure it's not before Mr. Sperm, introduces himself to Miss Egg, but after that it gets fuzzy.

Still, if we must define as a point of law, better to err on the side of spiritual person-hood.

Each of us has more influence over our state legislature than we'll ever have over Congress.

Use that influence wisely.

“...Carter was a Southern Baptist, as was Bill Clinton, and Al Gore, all “personally opposed to abortion....but” and they were all pro-abortion leaders...”

Al Gore, among some other liberals liked to use the phrase, “In my faith tradition...” That wording barely obscures that he does not really take the Gospel as truth.
