Rose, Major League Baseball's hit king, passed away earlier today at his home in Las Vegas.
Pete's agent, Ryan Fiterman of Fiterman Sports, confirmed the news, saying, "the family is asking for privacy at this time."

"I would BET $1000.00 he NEVER BET AGAINST HIS OWN TEAM!"
Any player, umpire, or Club or League official or employee, who shall bet any sum whatsoever upon any baseball game in connection with which the bettor has a duty to perform, shall be declared permanently ineligible.
Pete broke that rule.

“Greatest players to ever play the game?” I’m not sure abou that. The guy was a Hall of Famer, but I’m not sure he’d even crack a list of the top 100 MLB players of all time.

It is amazing how professional sports has embraced Las Vegas. Literally athletes promoting gambling.

I was seven when he was a rookie. He was my favorite player in 1963 and that will never change. I had the pleasure of listening to the vast majority of games he played in or managed for the Reds.
There will never be another Charlie Hustle.

I'll never forget that fight he had with Bud Harrelson, I was in the 1st grade in New York and was a Met fanatic and to this day I remember seeing it on TV, I couldn't believe how Rose picked up Harrelson like a toy and slammed him into the ground. I had Harrelsons autograph as well. To this day I don't know why they fought lol

One of Pete’s great applause lines was that he also “made more outs than anyone in baseball history.”

In addition to the hit title, Rose also played in more games, had more at-bats, had gotten on base more and had singled more than anyone in baseball history. He also made the most outs in MLB history.
