MLB legend Pete Rose has died at the age of 83, TMZ Sports has learned.

Rose, Major League Baseball's hit king, passed away earlier today at his home in Las Vegas.

Pete's agent, Ryan Fiterman of Fiterman Sports, confirmed the news, saying, "the family is asking for privacy at this time."

Pete was one of the greatest baseball players to ever grace a diamond, earning 17 All-Star Game nods, winning three World Series and the 1973 N.L. MVP.

Thom Brennaman on X says it best…

“Pete Rose means a lot to a lot of people in this city. You may understand why. You may not understand why,” but he does. For better or worse. Whatever the second half of his life came to represent - and it’s made his legacy deeply complex - Pete is identified more than anyone with a period of time in Cincinnati that still means a bunch to a whole lot of people here. And a part of a lot of people’s youth just passed.”

“Perfect? Of course not,” No one is, although many are quick to judge. God Bless you Peter Edward. You (will be) so very much missed. You’re in a (better) place! Your friend, TB”

Game Called.
Across the field of play
the dusk has come, the hour is late.
The fight is done and lost or won,
the player files out through the gate.
The tumult dies, the cheer is hushed,
the stands are bare, the park is still.
But through the night there shines the light,
home beyond the silent hill.

Game Called.
Where in the golden light
the bugle rolled the reveille.
The shadows creep where night falls deep,
and taps has called the end of play.
The game is done, the score is in,
the final cheer and jeer have passed.
But in the night, beyond the fight,
the player finds his rest at last.

Game Called.
Upon the field of life
the darkness gathers far and wide,
the dream is done, the score is spun
that stands forever in the guide.
Nor victory, nor yet defeat
is chalked against the players name.
But down the roll, the final scroll,
shows only how he played the game.

No way. If he did drugs and killed someone he would have been in 15-10 years ago.

The WAR rating system at baseball reference.com puts pete at number 66 best player of all time. That sounds about right to me. Very similar to derek jeter - very popular player but not up there with bonds and a-rod .

any single woman that Rose met, his first words to her was “you need a boob job” and would offer to pay for it. Real classy there Pete. His own team mates on those great Reds teams hated his guts.

‘I will never understand why they hasn’t.”

Because Pete Rose agreed to a lifetime ban.

That was Pete’s choice.

Had MLB followed the letter of Rule 22, he would have been permanently banned.

Pete got a good deal.

You don’t become a villian in this world unless you piss off the people in charge. Rose didn’t play ball with the illuminati and he paid a price worse than death.

No. He broke the big rule. Which was posted on the wall next the phone he used to break it. And then he lied, and lied, and lied. And then spent the rest of his life in casinos, showing he never learned. He earned his lifetime ban. I hope they put a copy of the report in his hof display, it’s part of the story.

Lucky guy. He doesn’t have to sit/lay there anymore watching Godless, liberal leftists burn this nation to the ground.

The Black Sox scandal really did threaten the game, which is why they had to be so harsh on gamblers.

Lots of people say pete had a gambling problem but who knows?. Pete always said he never bet the rent money; he could always handle any loss. If true, then he didn’t have a gambling problem though of course he was wrong to bet on baseball.

Some still speculate that Michael Jordan’s “retirement” had a lot to do with his gambling problem.
