I doubt that Israel would have been able to initiate these measures including yesterday’s Nasrallah attack, except in this situation where the US President (Biden) is incoherent and not functional. The Junta cannot lead or respond to such delicate situations requiring diplomacy.
What kind of targets would a “limited ground operation” be. Concentrated munitions? Hezbollah wouldn’t concentrate troops. Iranian intelligence center? Rockets could take that out. Small rocket launch radius? Have to keep the captured territory.
I’m not a tactician, so I’m curious as to the Israeli goal.
I think the initial plan is to clear everything out south of the Litani River. This would supposedly be a buffer zone that would prevent many rocket attacks into now deserted Northern Israel.

Reports of Explosions at Iraqi-Syrian Border
Three explosions have been reported in the Al-Bukamal area along the Iraqi-Syrian border. Local sources suggest several airstrikes, likely carried out by U.S. forces, targeted the area. Field reports indicate 9 martyrs as a result of these raids.
The strikes are believed to be in retaliation for resistance operations against illegal U.S. bases in the region. Further details are expected as the situation develops.

The end game here is to push them back to the Litani River.

Small-scale ‘border movements’ into Lebanon may have begun, US officials say
Small-scale operations or “border movements” into Lebanon to take out Hezbollah positions right on the border have begun or are about to, according to two U.S. officials.
Israel does not yet appear to have fully decided whether to launch a ground operation but is prepared for one, the officials said. If a ground operation happens, its scope will likely be limited, sources said. The key is fulfilling the promise to Israelis that the tens of thousands displaced from northern Israel will be able to go home. To do that, decapitating Hezbollah is not enough, the officials said.
U.S. officials received a “few minutes notice” at best, before Hassan Nasrallah’s assassination on Friday, the officials said.
In response to reports that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin blew up when Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant informed him about Nasrallah, the officials said, “We do bear a lot of risks” in the region, and their people were not given a lot of notice to prepare for possible hostile responses to the assassination, which did not please U.S. officials.
One of the officials noted that there is tolerance right now and that U.S. “interests in the region could be badly harmed” if U.S. officials lose their contacts with the Israelis.
The sources said Nasrallah, until the very end, had demanded a Hezbollah ceasefire be tied to a Gaza cease-fire.
Diplomacy remains the only viable long-term solution, even if a military campaign sets the stage for it, officials said.

Ummmm, where have you been the past year?
We have almost 80000 people who live near the lebanon border who have been displaced because of hezbollah with the entire Galilee region getting pummelled with daily missile barrages (yes i own a rental home up there)
The goal of a ground incursion is to create a buffer zone in Lebanon so our residents can safely return home without yhe fear of an ATGM destroying their house.
Some places like Metula are already a majority destroyed.
Yes, osintdefender is a reliable source and he’s not afraid of correcting errors in his reports.
Thank you for some “on the ground” insight. May God be with you all over there.
I don’t believe anything that comes out of SovietAmerica/occupiedAmerica.

Wow - we knew it was coming - this could be a very interesting 7-10 days, starting last Friday - they already ARE, frankly
Should it be public information?
End game should be total anilation of jhadist.
“I’m not a tactician, so I’m curious as to the Israeli goal.”
Actually, to flush out the remaining Hamas terrorists in Gaza. They will think Israel shifted to the north and will start planning new attacks and coming out of the remaining tunnels. In other word, killing Hezbollah is a real operation, but also a red flag.
Lookner’s on this now.
Bibi has the will to protect Israel, whatever it takes.
Not new. He will destroy both Hamas and Hezbollah.
The so called Palestinians and Iranians will soon learn what happens when anyone tries to destroy Israel.
You would have thought by now that they figured that out, clearly they did not. Some of the leadership scum in Hezbollah has been engineering Terrorist attack for 40+ years.
Bibi sent many of them straight to hell in the past 2 weeks. And badly crippled many more of them.
It's actually pretty simple.
Attack when and where they don't expect you to attack.
Appear weak where you are strong and strong where you are weak.
Perform the violence at such a volume and in a short period of time that there is no time to go to the saddest story or "worst" human rights violation...or whatever propaganda the muslim dogs use.
Leave nothing but uncertainty about motives, methods and types of attacks..... Will the IDF, Mossad, Mista‘arvim, Oz or other units attack today, tomorrow, next month in Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, Syria, Europe..??
There "goal" is to create a fear of Israel that is worse than the muslims fear of Hezbollah or Iranian stooges.... that it is better to cooperate with Israel than face complete destruction of your home and family.
Looks like the Jews have finally lost their temper.... and after seeing the moonscape that is now Gaza, that old Kinky Friedman song comes to mind... "they ain't makin' Jews like Jesus anymore"...
