'Why Would They Be Eating Animals? They Have Vouchers!' Springfield, Ohio, Overwhelmed by Haitians and a Housing Crisis, Has Much Bigger Problems Than Pet Rumors

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—"If we only had 5,000, I wouldn’t be talking to you right now," says Reverend Barron—real name Kenneth Selig—in what’s become a common refrain in the embattled city of Springfield, Ohio.

Barron, a street preacher, food truck owner, and former warehouse manager, has emerged as a colorful champion for the small city as it struggles through an unprecedented transformation. As many as 20,000 Haitian immigrants, city officials say, have arrived in Springfield since the pandemic, swelling its population to almost 80,000. Times were already tough before the rumors started swirling about migrants eating cats, dogs, and geese.

"Look man, why would they be eating animals? They have vouchers, they’re displacing people here, that’s the problem," Barron said. "We can have town meetings with our pitchforks, yelling, but I’m over that. Reasonable men need to sit down and think of a solution."

Barron, a burly figure with denim overalls, a red hat, and a great white beard, went viral on social media earlier this month when he gave a fiery speech at a town meeting about the city’s growing homeless population. The video has 9.5 million views on X.

"I don’t know of a single homeless Haitian in this town because they all got vouchers," he bellowed at the city elders. "I’d like to show you the whole bunch of people who’ve been displaced."

President Trump is a genius. The only continuing discussion regarding the debate is the issue of the Haitians in Springfield, Ohio.

If Trump had just said the Haitians were taking the jobs and increasing the costs of housing in the town, everyone would had yawned and nothing more would have been said on the issue. But, with actual journalists going to the town to look into his allegations about the pets, more issues are coming to light in regards to the problems in the town caused by the influx of illegal aliens.

The Hatiain slaves belong to DeWine, the governor, and are in slaves quarters by the mayor, Rob Rue. Take it up starting there.

Who gets stuck paying for the vouchers AND WHY? The third world UN bass turds should be paying for their “refugees” to eat. Where does it say in the Constitution that American taxpayers should pay all living expenses for the world’s freeloaders in their country illegally?

I wouldn’t know if it’s true, but I read that cat is considered a true delicacy in some parts of the world. As with people all over the world, native culture plays a very powerful role, especially with regard to favorite foods.

My mom was a home health nurse. One of her clients always had the smoker going, and a standing order for any roadkill she might find....especially cats...domestic or bobcat.

No wonder our taxes are so high!

“One consequence is a sharp uptick in welfare dependency in the Springfield metro area. Roughly 8,000 people of Haitian origin are now receiving federal assistance from programs like Medicaid. In March 2022, that figure was fewer than 1,000.”

i did a little reading on the voodoo

the percentage of haitians who practice voodoo seemed to vary
a range given was 70-90%

a common phrase is haiti is 70% catholic 30% protestant and 100% voodoo

it seems the voodoo is done on the sly not out in the open

and yes they do the animal sacrifices

they drink the animal’s blood and then eat the animal

typically goats pigs chickens but thats not available

who knows

if even 2% of the springfield haitians are voodoo that would be 400

more than enough to cause a noticeable decline in the local animal population

They sacrificed them, then ate them. Something to do with spirits.

As a previous dedicated pet owner, I’d say it’s no small thing when a pet is killed or otherwise harmed, especially by someone who has no business even being here.

That reminds me; I should drive by the local Walmart/Lowes shopping center area and see how many geese are around the ponds near the shopping center. It could be an indicator of whether or not there are Haitians in the neighborhood.

This festival has been banned after world attention
https://passionatefoodie.blogspot.com/2009/06/la-festival-gastronomico-del-gato.html

Yes cats are eaten in Peru.
Excerp from The Passionate Foodie: “In La Quebrada, a small Peruvian farming town south of Lima, they hold La Festival Gastronomico del Gato (the Gastronomic Festival of the Cat) on September 21. This festival is allegedly a commemoration of the original settlers, slaves, who once had to survive only on cat meat. Many of those black slaves had been brought to Peru to work on cotton plantations. The festival is also part of a celebration for Santa Efigenia, the town’s patron saint.”

I watched a video where a woman, who was a cashier at one of the stores in Springfield, tells of the amount of money one Haitian had. Well into the $1000s according to this woman.

Multiply that by 20k in Springfield and everywhere else in the country.

There is a difference between putting an animal on the “barby” and sacrificing an animal. The sacrifice may not even be eaten since its purpose in different. The BBQ animal is for the plate.

That cashier was talking about the government issued EBT cards that the Haitians used to purchase their food. The cashier can read how much is on the balance of the card when running the transaction. She said US citizens might have a few hundred on their cards compared to thousands of dollars for the Haitian immigrants
