SEC will seek sanctions against Elon Musk in Twitter probe over failure to appear in court

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said it intends to seek sanctions against Elon Musk after he failed to appear and testify in court amid the agency's probe into his $44 billion takeover of Twitter, which he renamed X.

The SEC is asking for a court order to show cause why the Tesla CEO and SpaceX owner should not be held in civil contempt after he said he wouldn't appear a mere three hours before the scheduled Sept. 10 testimony, Reuters reported, citing a filing in San Francisco federal court.

Musk's actions violated a May 31 court order compelling his testimony, it said.

Instead of appearing in court, Musk, 53, traveled to Florida's Cape Canaveral the same day to observe the launch of SpaceX's Polaris Dawn mission.

"Musk's excuse itself smacks of gamesmanship," SEC lawyer Robin Andrews wrote. "The court must make clear that Musk’s gamesmanship and delay tactics must cease."

Time for republicans in the house to issue a subpoena to the SEC to show why Elon is being threatened by them. It’s a free-speech issue and an anti-competitive action by government.

How about just undoing the deal and giving Musk his $44 billion back?

Musk will do more productive work for the nation in one day than the entire staff of the SEC does in a year.
And this is no exaggeration. Sorry, but the majority of us that have done real things in life have no respect for a bureaucracy, whose work could be done in a very large part by high school grad (er, a high school grad that graduated before the left took a bodacious Obama on ‘publik skoolz’).

How many Hussein/Biden Regime crooks have refused to talk, testify?

How many democRATS and demoKKKrats have used insider trading to become millionaires? When someone actually confronted Pelousy about this, she basically told them to pound sand.

But support free speech for everyone, and you have to target on your back. One of the many reasons they despise President Trump and Musk is that they made money the ol’ fashioned way...... They EARNED IT. And they have enough to not just hire many lawyers to fend off these attacks, they have the audacity to counter sue.

This is lawfare.

An SEC hearing can be easily rescheduled. The launch of the Polaris Dawn had been delayed several times and Musk, as the owner, had every right to be there when it finally launched.

The prob is obviously politically motivated. Musk bought out Twitter. It was all above board. Musk has introduced more competition into the information space.

Therefore he must be stomped on.

Bureaucratic agencies like the SEC are career track aspirations of high school hallway monitors.

I think that perhaps the SEC will drop everything if Elon agrees to reinstitute anti-conservative censorship on X. Along with a public confession of how “wrong’ he was and how he promises not to ever do it again.

Just like they did in communist China during the cultural revolution.

Do you mean Assistant Democrats?

By your standards, there is nobody honorable enough to try to stop the democrats or the SEC?

I remember that Zuckerberg balked a couple weeks ago when it came to interference with the elections. And Elise Stefanic was veru effective against the university presidents regarding the anti-Jewish/anti-Israel protests.

Would you rather have clear-fields ahead for the SEC and democrats?
