Putin draws new red line on long-range missiles
BBC ^ | Sep 13 | Steve Rosenberg, Russia Editor

Posted on 09/13/2024 1:58:20 AM PDT by RandFan

The headline in this morning’s Kommersant newspaper captured the drama.

“Vladimir Putin draws his red line.”

Will the West cross it? And, if it does, how will Russia respond?

Speaking in St Petersburg, President Putin sent a clear warning to the West: don’t allow Ukraine to use your long-range missiles to strike Russian territory.

Moscow, he said, would view that as the “direct participation” of Nato countries in the war in Ukraine.

“It would substantially change the very essence, the nature of the conflict,” the Kremlin leader continued.

“This will mean that Nato countries, the USA and European states, are fighting with Russia.”

He claimed that, for missile launches into Russia, Ukraine would require data from Western satellites and that only servicemen from Nato member states would be able to “input flight missions into these missile systems”.

As you don’t care about the rest of the world (not your problem), and you say the U.S. is hopelessly corrupt, why do you care about anything at all?

Good luck living in your fantasy world.

“Ukraine needs to use missiles or drones to completely destroy every oil refinery in Russia.”

You do know that Russia could use just it’s TU160 fleet to absolutely level every Ukrainian city to the stone age right....right. They could go World war II level city busting. Same for every power plant, water treatment plant as well. Russia has shown restraint so far why because they have to live next door to these people eventually. If the gloves were to come off it would be a total war one Ukraine and they would cease to exist as a people. Ukraine has some loaned missile systems , Russia has fleets of heavy strategic bombers and the support aircraft to make penetrations into contested air space as well think ECM and wild weasel anti SAM aircraft. They also can deploy FAB 3000,5000,9000 kg demolition munitions the west doesn’t have weapons in this class nor can fighter gets carry the 5000,9000 level munitions. We are not giving B52s to Ukraine that’s for sure. The TU160 is larger than the B1-B although they look similar the Russian version is modernized Mach 2 and carries internal and external weapons up to nearly twice the throw weight of a B-1B it doesn’t have to cross oceans it’s only a few hundred miles from its home base to uke cities the devastation would be biblical if they went full arclight style on their behinds.

Don’t forget the Russians also have a standing doctrine of tactical nuclear use. We foolishly eliminated our enhanced radiation air burst munitions aka neutron bombs. Russia didn’t they would use them if pushed into a corner. Air burst fusion heavy weapons do not leave a fallout trail so there is little or zero ground level fall out it ends up in the stratosphere and drifts away. The ground level gamma and neutron dose is enough to kill people in basements and near ground level fall out shelters 3 feet of dirt is not enough for enhanced radiation air burst munitions, even tank armor is not enough that is what they were designed for to kill tank crews and civilian hiding in basements in cities. Russia has artillery shells, tactical missles including hypersonic and glonass glides munitions all can carry ER fusion munitions it’s part of their SOP.

The corrupt Ukes and their globalhomo master’s better think long and hard about burning the war to Russia proper they won’t like the outcome when not of the gloves come off. Right now it’s a war of attrition if these fools make it a total war Ukraine will be genocided and cease to exist as a people.

I dont care, Russia needs to be brought to their knees until they stop their Ukraine invasion and leave, then they need to pay to rebuild everything they broke.

Looks like just the west wants this war? Why is that?

There’s enough problems right here without making new ones.

Given the enormous problems in America, why should we be brought to the brink of a World War for a European border dispute?

WW II was how long ago? WW III will be nothing like WW II. Why do so many keep bringing up the great fight 75+ years ago? Yeah we won big in 1945 but we tossed a lot away with Yalta. We haven’t done so well since—Korea—a draw, Vietnam—a loss, Iraq— a lose victory, Afghanistan a Loss. Only real victory was Grenada. The BIG WAR is coming folks—and this time we better win or the USA will be on the chopping block.

Are you saying when Germany declared war on US in 1941, we fought the wrong enemy?

We missed their ally. And I don’t mean Italy or Japan. You know, the one where they split up Poland.

Putin wants to get the old band back together.

The U.S. declared war on Germany in 1917 after U-boats sank three U.S. merchant ships. Was this the wrong enemy also?

It was the Zimmerman telegram plus Germany restarting unrestricted submarine warfare. America was a neutral at the time.

If we were neutral, why didn’t we tell the Brits to allow our ships to go into German ports?

If we could supply Britain, but not Germany, of course that would put our ships in jeopardy. We should have told the Brits we would not risk our ships. That’s what a true neutral would have done.

Ukraine is a near peer adversary of Russia in the ongoing Russo-Ukraine war. Russian casualties are currently estimated by the UK Ministry of Defense at over a 1,200 a day.

The BBC reported in late July of 2024 that Russia had suffered from 87,140 to 110,900 combat deaths. Wagner mercenary contractor Yevgeny Prigozhin confirmed that he Russian military had lost 120,000 dead in Ukraine by late June, 2024. Estimated Ukrainian combat deaths are reported in slightly lower ranges.

It is not about ww2 as you know, it is about how we prosecuted that war and how this one is.

The big one may becoming and the person responsible is Putin.

To bring up ww2 similarities again, had hitler not been given Czechoslovakia for “peace” ww2 may have been avoided.

Without Czech tanks the invasion of Poland and even France couldn’t have happened, without Czech production hitler would not have been able to sustain his armored forces

But your right why talk about ww2

History may not repeat itself but it sure does rhyme

Heck, We are being attacked by our own government but most don’t realize it or care, I guess. This certainly isn’t the country I grew up in. I hope it’s not too late to get things back to normal again.
