Rabbi Reacts: Young Netanyahu (age 28 at the time) has an incredible message from the past which can help us today.
What I find interesting is that Bibi says Jordan is the Palestinian state that Palies long for. I fully agree with him!
How so? Before it was Jordan it was known as Trans-Jordan. Before it was Trans-Jordan it was the eastern half of the British Mandate for Palestine. There are some here who would disagree with me on the history of British Mandate Palestine, but they won’t tell me what they think it is.
In order to settle this conflict Israel needs to send of the Palies packing to Jordan - the Palestinian homeland of the Palies.
In part I based my view on the proven capacity for genocidal violence of the Arabs surrounding Israel. And that having been backed into a corner by the world's hatred, that corner being the land which they knew from a hundred generations of preaching and prayer to be their home, the Jews would not be displaced. Even then everyone knew they had developed a final nuclear option if it ever came to the point of being overrun.
I'm still not sure what my professor expected me come up with, some sort of millenial "Hey, let's just all get along" Coca Cola commercial. I thought my reasoning was sound, even if the conclusion was "a real downer, Man". That they'd have to fight it out and one side lose.
“In order to settle this conflict Israel needs to send of the Palies packing to Jordan”
I suspect that telling the Palestinians they should all leave where they were born and have lived there whole lives will not go down well.
Yes, the UN has created several generations of Arab refugees in the West Bank and Gaza. They are a cash cow to the UN administrators. (And the refugee "leadership")
I think they would be happy Jordan since 80% of the Palies in Israel have family there.
I could have gone the rest of my life without again hearing the name of that vile creature Arafat, he fouled the world for far too long.
He left a very long trail of death and destruction in his wake during his lifetime.
It is easy for us here safe in our homes and wealth to think this way. But think about it.....what if the UN told you and your family to get out and move to another state leaving everything behind. Others would take over your property.
Perhaps you have family in that state you are headed to. Would you be happy?
The West Bank was ruled by Jordan until 1967.
It is my understanding that Egypt once ran Gaza.
Perhaps if Jordan and Egypt simply ran West Bank and Gazan banks and government finances that would help keep the West Bank and Gaza peaceful enough for Israel.
When I lived in Virginia, the Commonwealth of Virginia made all the payments for all government entities of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Fairfax County didn’t write its own checks.
Jordan gave up running the West Bank in 1967 I believe.
The Palestinians living in the West Bank aren’t going to budge voluntarily. It is my understanding that they generally refuse to sell land to Jews even for far more than the value of the land.
No one wants them.
Doubtless the next democrat president will move them all here.
If the Palies in Israel truly want a Palestinian homeland they would all flock to Jordan and not try to destroy Israel.
Don't tell them, offer/invite them, to move to an area where they aren't having the snot bombed out of them, where they can breathe free surrounded by people who share their culture and religion, where the can work, live, and raise their children in "peace and safety", and most will go.
The ones who won't get the snot bombed out of them...
If you actually have the power, you can make your “prophecies” a reality.
You didn’t answer my question.
It was probably not feasible, but it does show that the notion that "Jordan is the Palestinian state" is ludicrous.
I think one the problems would be that Jordan doesn't want them either.
/sarcasm off/
/but I hope you get the point/
