Donald Trump is outlining his economic platform during a speech in New York City on Thursday.
The former president's policies will include billionaire Elon Musk's recommendation to create a government efficiency commission to conduct 'a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government.'
The remarks are meant to more specifically detail Trump's plans for the future of the economy as the issue is often cited by voters as their No. 1 issue this election cycle.
And Trump holds an advantage over Vice President Kamala Harris among voters who think he would better handle the economy and inflation crisis.
Trump's policies are expected to introduce even more aggressive slashing of regulations than he implemented during his first White House term and would likely dramatically rescind unspent funds that President Joe Biden's administration appropriated.
The address comes just five days before Tuesday's debate with Harris in Philadelphia.
'I can't wait. There is a lot of waste and needless regulation in government that needs to go,' Musk tweeted this week amid speculation of his role influencing Trump's economic policies.
Musk suggested that the commission tackle the issue of inflation by addressing government spending.
And the X, Tesla and SpaceX CEO wants this group to 'recommend drastic reform' after an entire government audit.

“Trump is going to need a lot more protection.”
You can say that again.
They deserve much much worse than a cell.
I posted this a week or 2 ago:
During the inauguration speech, President Trump announces that he will sign an executive order to halt all activity in every federal department and agency, with the exception of the US Military and the US Treasury, and ask Congress to form a committee to review the need for these departments, and make recommendations as to how to transfer the work done to by these departments to the 50 states. Payments for SS, Medicare, & Medicaid will continue, but all other federal employees in these departments and agencies not involved in assisting with the review (non-essential) should consider themselves laid off and to file for unemployment.
The US Military, under the direction of the Secretary of Defense, will review their weapons system’s needs, the procurement process, and the manufacturing process to streamline the delivery of weapons systems. At the same time, all DEI training will halt.
All federal personnel shall be subject dismissal, up to and including prosecution for any attempt to subvert these orders
The review will also include the cost savings (tax decreases) to the American public since these departments and agencies will no longer require federal government to collect taxes to fund their existence.
This halting of activity will last approximately 6 months and can be extended as needed to complete the process
It sounds good, but I am not a fan of ANY additional government agencies, committees, groups, councils, etc. or organizations of any kind! Government agencies never go away, they only grow and get bigger— even those with the best intentions.
“Argentina’s Javier Milei completely turned around the countries failing economy in record time by slashing the countries wasteful and corrupt government.”

Argentina is the only country in the region with a 3%+ NEGATIVE GDP now, and an annual inflation rate of 123%.
If that’s the example you’re following, please stop.
Unless the ‘audit’ starts w/ “Is {X} Constitutionally authorized? If ‘No’ == abolished”, it’s just more wasted taxpayer $$
*PLENTY* of non-govt/taxpayer watchdogs that hand out BOOKS worth of duplication, bloat, inefficiency, etc. to Congress+...that are shelved w/o cracking the spine.
