I am better; thanks for asking. I still have a wee bit of congestion and my throat gets scratchy if I talk, so I’m not done yet.
My dad has fallen a few times lately. Yesterday, he didn’t have enough strength to get back up again. Actually, he fell Sunday evening and I found him on the floor yesterday. And I was locked out. So, after trying for 30 minutes to get in, I had to ask the fire department to come help.
Dad was not injured in the fall. He just couldn’t get up. He declined transport to the hospital. So, a lot of yesterday was me remaining close by to make sure he remained well. The major development was that he has now decided to find a nursing home who will take care of him for about a month. He’s tired of falling with no one around. He’ll re-evaluate after a month.
The culture in the area is changing. What was “standard” and “usual” 30 years ago when we arrived doesn’t always apply today. At that time, yes, there was still the practice of cutting off fingers, actually portions of fingers, when a person experiences a loss of some sort. The severence was usually done at a knuckle.
I don’t think it happens much now. It is also something that I don’t see younger generations do. And, it was practiced more among those living in interior regions rather than those living along the coastal areas that interact with outsiders.
But, yes, I’ve seen older Papuans with missing fingers.
Liz Cheney certainly feels very confident, making threats to anyone thinking of taking any action against her and her treasonous committee.
Good to see Mike Davis bark right back at her. I love it. I noted on the X thread that Harmeet Dhillon responded to her threat as well, but, being classy Harmeet, she merely reponded with, “Oh really?”
Lol that little guy made me laugh.
