Am I The Only One – Aaron Lewis
Christopher Macchio.
He sang at the RNC this year, and also at other Trump events.

I love the song, but not because I consider it a Christian song. It’s not. I believe it was Leonard Cohen, and it’s more of a ballad with some questioning overtones. It just has such a beautiful melody (depending on who is singing). What I really like is when I see others do remakes of it, turning it into a beautful Christian song of praise. A couple of young ladies with lovely voices re-wrote the words and sang it as a Christmas or Easter song a few years ago. It was lovely.
Thank you. I do like the melody, but too much of it is a bit cloying. I’m glad you spoke up because most people do like it. I feel a bit as if we’re in the minority.
This one hasn’t had a re-write, but I don’t know how anyone can’t think it’s a beautiful song. I could be wrong as well.
I guess my overall description of it is “sappy and insipid”. And when the artists sing it, they’re oh-so-solemn and hokey. LOL!
It was never written as a Christian song. Not even a Jewish song. It’s a song written by Leonard Cohen. I think many people decided that because the chorus was “Hallelujah” that it must be Christian, but it never was.
The crowd was massive. I couldn’t believe it.
Sappy and insipid melody (to me). Very monotonous. But my college major was Church Music, and I prefer the style of Bach’s 4-part harmony. Each to his own, right?
It’s really interesting to read music threads here when they pop up. People sure do have strong opinions when it comes to music preferences.
Too right! I agree.
Wow. Even Andrea Bocelli? I guess I’m ok being sappy and insipid and hokey. I’d love to be able to sing like this. I guess I appreciate it because I couldn’t sing a tune to save my life. I think it’s a beautiful song.

For sure everyone has their own preferences. I guess I don’t see the need to insult something that someone else likes - if it’s not my cup of tea, then that’s about all I would say, unless the music is offensive, as it often is these days. But that’s just me - no college major.
Ahh. My major was music ed with an clarinet minor. I miss the rich harmonies and inner voices that were prevelant in previous eras.
Judy, I’m sorry I brought this up. I hadn’t read your comment when I wrote my first post. If I had, I would have kept my opinions to myself. I apologize.
No worries, Jem. Don’t give it another thought.
I was on Fox to start with, switch to rsbn when I finally found it.
Thanks for the info.
Mine was metallurgical engineering.
My favorites are copper and iridium.
(Doesn’t work near as well as yours in cocktail party conversations, lol)
“I love the song....”
I am with you on that Judy. There are so many songs I love to hear but rarely know what the words are actually saying. I just love the melodies.
