Election losses by high-ranking Republicans are reshaping Oklahoma's Legislature
The Oklahoman ^ | 8/29/24 | M. Scott Carter

For the second time in as many months, a high-powered Republican member of the Oklahoma Legislature crashed and burned on election night, an indication that infighting among the GOP is increasing and the party's far right-wing is now a major voice in state elections.

The defeat of state Rep. Kevin Wallace, chairman of the powerful House Appropriations and Budget Committee, comes after Ada voters ousted state Sen. Greg McCortney, who had been tapped to be the next leader of the Oklahoma Senate.

Both men had plenty of campaign funds, were well organized and held high profile positions that kept their names in front of the voters. McCortney was the Senate's majority floor leader before he became its heir-apparent leader.

Yet both still lost.

McCortney fell in an ugly primary battle that involved the governor and a dark money group charged with painting him as a liberal whose sole goal was to defund the police. Wallace lost Tuesday in an even uglier primary runoff that turned on issues such as human poop as fertilizer, land owned by non-U.S. citizens and wind power.

it isn’t “infighting” when the voters decide it’s time to exchange the poopy diapers for fresh ones.

the party's far right-wing

I think they are describing Republicans who are Republicans, as opposed to those Republicans who are Democrats.

Politics is like a revolving door... Some politicians need to be slung out quicker.
Kim Taine, hillrey’s wanna be vp candy date, come 1/20/17, did not turn into the pumpkin he is but just slid right back into his cushy senate easy chair and is still there counting on and awaiting the latest Virginia down ticketSTEAL. President Trump all the way 2024 and oust the down ticket everywhere too.
Make them cry.

In my county in Michigan, the delegates threw out the GOP establishment and inserted ultra right wing bible thumpers.....and on their first election, got destroyed by the Democrats in the most heavily voter Identified Republican County in the USA. Politics and money go hand in hand. Also, your messaging needs to be concise or your opponents will smell blood and control the narrative. Turns out most people just want as little government as they can stomach even if is their brand.....being forced fed by those moral busy bodies we dream of in our nightmares.

I don't know who these guys are, but it looks like some more assistant demonrats have been removed.

"We need to go back and learn lessons from these races about what gets out voters and what doesn't," he said. "That's the only thing left to do."

The only thing left to do is to continue to purge the traitors. Wind farms, human poop, Chinese ownership of property. And they wonder why they lost.

“...the party’s far right-wing is now a major voice in state elections...”

Yes, it’s called democracy.

But according to scumbags like M. Scott Carter, only democrats and RINO’s are allowed to govern. /spit

Happened in our school board elections as well, even though we had to drag one big name out of retirement to lead the charge. He agreed on the condition of no campaigning and was STILL the top vote getter.

People here were in the habit of not turning out for off-year school board elections because "they weren't a big deal". All that changed when the wokesters got a 5-4 majority and launched a $#*+show. Now there is one wokester left.

She is a nice elderly lady who was a former teacher and been on the library board forever; not a firebreathing far left dingbat. She just went along with that crowd out of habit.

Exzctly- was gon a say that they say “far right” as though it is a purjorative, but in reality it simp,y describes true Republicans. Far left on the other hand describes Marxists.

There is no plain old “right” anymore. Anything to the right of communism is called “far right” these days.

I’m racking my brain trying to recall the last time a “mainstream” news outlet referred to a “far-left” Democrat.

Still no luck.

Interesting to see that liberal propaganda media exists even in deep red Oklahoma.

I’m curious as to the subscriber trend in numbers over the last 30 years looks like for this newspaper.

They got torched in nearly all their elections. Lost control of a majority conservative township and lost the trust of the population. NOT a good thing.
