Convicted felon and former New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez fought back tears while describing his legacy as one of “breaking down barriers,” denying that it entailed breaking laws as well.
Despite his 16-count conviction last month for trading the power of his office for lucrative bribes, an emotional Menendez claimed he will leave behind a “good legacy.”
“My legacy is one of breaking down barriers,” Menendez told Spanish-American language broadcaster Noticias Univision, per a translation.
“A legacy is planting seeds to create a tree where you won’t sit under it. That’s a legacy. And in that sense, we have sown and planted so many seeds, which I know is a good legacy.”

His legacy is that he will always be known as:
GOLD BAR BOB MENENDEZ
He did an excellent job of breaking barriers that have been preventing him from being in prison.
Barriers between people with money and himself....
I believe my Father told me something like that when I was a small boy.
Little side note, Bob’s father committed suicide rather than pay off gambling debts.
Dont do it Bob.
No your legacy will be breaking down in tears studmuffin. Bend over.
Like the barrier from the US Senate to a federal prison?!
There...fixed.
He’s a dweeby little white guy who got power and used it to get money. Hispanic might be relevant to Hispanics but in his case, not to whites.
” ‘My legacy is one of breaking down barriers’”
My legacy is one of corruption.
His “legacy”??? That’s all they care about? Stfu Bob
Breaking down barriers with bribes and payoffs, other illegal actions. Legacy indeed.
It’s true.
Except — the barriers he means were barriers between him and money that didn’t belong to him.
You don’t get to frame your own legacy asshat.
Yeah…its just sociopath 101 with these guys and gals.
The idea that they are wrong at any point just does not compute in their heads.
““A legacy is planting seeds to create a tree where you won’t sit under it. That’s a legacy. And in that sense, we have sown and planted so many seeds, which I know is a good legacy.””
Interesting analogy he used there. Interesting that he used the term “good”... since there are also bad legacies. A more apt and accurate description of “his legacy” would be one of typical Democrat corruption and one that presents a cautionary tale of the usual Democrat destruction that could be avoided by term limits.
A bad legacy, like the one of Barack Hussein Obama, is also descriptive of that “so many seeds sown and planted”. And the obvious problem is... the seeds are all bad, destructive seeds... and America is still reeling from those bad seeds that are still being sown. I am always amazed at the hubris of these Democrats that, even as their personal reputation ship is sinking... they insist on proclaiming that it was a “good” thing they have done in service to Americans... when quite the opposite is the truth.
So no, Bob... nobody ‘else’ will be sitting under your legacy tree... because that tree is another one that poisons the very soil around it... and one that damages anyone that gets next to it. It’s the typical legacy of a typical leftist Democrat. One that needs to be uprooted and torn out completely and ultimately.
Tears up over resignation looked a lot like tears up resignation.
By barriers he means the barriers to the cash room.
The corrupt bum should be hung from a lamppost in public for his many (and likely continuing) crimes. His extended family should be waterboarded to discover their part in this criminal treacherousness.
He is Cuban-American, NOT like the majority of these great fully assimilated Patriotic Americans, no Menendez is a corruptocrat not unlike his pals in the Dominican Banana Republic. His pedo/buddy a surgeon in Miami is doing federal time for conviction on Medicare fraud- massive. This guy pimped little girls to Menendez when in country in Dom.Repub.
Funny the clintons famous disgusting “beach dance” she with her cankles and he with flushed coke nose face— was taken at a Dominican Republic place they owned there.
