Elizabeth Warren spars with CNBC anchor over Harris price-gouging plan

An interview between Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and CNBC host Joe Kernen boiled over Friday morning, when the two sparred over Vice President Harris’s recent pledge to ban price gouging if elected in November.

Harris unveiled her economic plans last week, including the proposed ban, which would give the Federal Trade Commission the ability to investigate companies that increase their prices during periods of higher inflation.

“This could be another tool in toolbox,” Warren said of the proposal, before Kernen interrupted.

“Senator how would this policy do that,” he asked.

Warren replied, “I let you finish your argument, did you invite me on here just to lecture to me.”

Which is exactly what they would have to do to survive since their own costs would be going up.

Gouging has little to do with it, for the most part.

Constricting our primary sources of cheap energy and making that cheap energy no longer cheap is the absolute primary reason for these massive price hikes over the last several years.

The other issue is flooding the country with illegal aliens and the government subsidizing their presence here. When the government is paying, you can jack up your prices! Overbearing demand due to too many illegals is also a major factor in the skyrocketing shelter costs for homes and apartments.

I run a small business and have been for over 10 years. The number one reason why prices have gone up is that the cost for goods have gone up. The price of goods has consistently gone up because of inflation and energy prices. It is that simple.

Why do we think the government, the Congress in particular, can or will do anything to stop inflation? It's solely because of the Congress that we have inflation, basically caused by the government spending more money than they take in with taxes. Since tax increases are too visible and unpopular, the Congress applies the biggest and worst tax of all in the form of inflation simply by pushing more worthless dollars in the economy, devaluing the money already there. Americans are mostly too stupid to realize the value, or worth, of things is still the same. What's changed is the value and worth of our money, thanks to the Congress. Our money is only worth a fraction of what is it was in the past in terms of purchasing power. If only the government would use the accrual method of accounting, that would provide a true picture of total liabilities, our national debt would five or six times what is reported. Again, thanks to the Congress.
The feds have no business offering grants, or donations to other countries, or for doing may more than the Constitution specifically allows since whatever they do is with borrowed (devalued) money. Perhaps the Congress should hire Bernie Madoff as their money advisor.
At least with inflation, the impact of that insidious tax affects all citizens, except of course, those that get even more ‘free’ federal dollars to offset inflation.
Any politician that thinks they can put the burden of inflation on corporations is either seriously stupid, or a damn liar. Same with any politician that thinks they can increase the corporate tax without that new burden being passed on to their customer. How did we get so stupid? Oh yeah, the public school system.

Since rising prices are the substance of inflation, the policy the Kamunist espouses is blatant price controls.
