WASHINGTON, DC – Arizona can continue requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote while legal challenges continue in court, but once registered, people can still vote in presidential elections or vote by mail without such proof, a fractured Supreme Court ruled on Thursday.
Election law in Arizona has required proof of citizenship since 2004. A divided Supreme Court held in 2013 that a federal law allowing people to register to vote with a federal form that does not require citizenship proof overrides state law, including Arizona’s. Since then, registrants using a standard registration form must present proof, but applicants who know about the federal option can still go that route and avoid proving that they are American citizens.
Then lawmakers in the Grand Canyon State passed an election integrity law in 2022. Among other things, that statute provided that no one in Arizona can vote in presidential elections or vote by mail without proof of citizenship. Allies of the Democrat Party sued in their relentless push to expand mail-in voting and early voting, and a lower court judge blocked Arizona’s law.

Barrett is a disappointment, as is Kavanaugh. The Federalist Society has proven a bust with its recommendations. Trump (or, God forbid, Harris) will most likely have the opportunity to replace Clarence Thomas and Sam Alito, the two reliable conservative SC votes. He’d better make certain they are replaced by people equally as strong.
This could stop hordes of illegals from registering to vote.
If not registered, mail-in ballots would be out of question.

The 50 separate Presidential “elections” by which all State Legislatures currently appoint their Electors are not subject to Federal oversight or regulation.
The appointment of Electors is a reserved sovereign power of the States. Article I allows Congress to make rules for the election of Representatives, and this power is extended to the election of Senators by Amendment XVII.
But such a power over the State Legislatures indirect appointment of the President has never been granted to Congress, and for good reason. Involvement of Congress, the Executive Branch, or the Judiciary was debated at length at the Philadelphia Convention, and was rejected to allow the States themselves, even joined in Union, to control the replacement of an existing Adminstration by appointing a new one.
Congress can grant iguanas the right to vote for Members of Congress from Arizona. But Congress cannot regulate how the Arizona Legislature appoints its Electors, even if Arizona chooses to use voting to do that.
A hypocritical worthless ruling. No proof of citizenship to vote? Shame shame Shame on the court!
Congress can allow illegals to vote for Members of Congress and Senators.
Congress may NOT require Arizona to change its laws about how Electors are appointed.

You can’t get ballot in mail if you are not registered. At least that is how it works in my state, Florida.
And you can not show up to vote in person if you are not registered.
India, which has 4 times more voters than United States, every voter requires government issued photo voter-ID card to vote.
The mail in ballots were the most important ones. I cannot believe they dropped the ball on that one. So what the hell let’s just cheat cheat cheat cheat too …that’s the only way we’re gonna win. No other way! Use the illegal invaders names to vote! Two can play the same game too.
Our elections are based on couple of centuries old system. It badly needs to be Amended.
I vote by dropping off my ballot at drop box which is next to the library and police department. Then I get email from my county that my ballot was received.
