Bud Light fell to third place in U.S. beer sales as Michelob Ultra took its place behind the top-selling Modelo, reinforcing the impact of the 2023 Bud Light boycott, which toppled the brand from its No. 1 spot.
In the four weeks ending July 6, the U.S. beer market was led by Modelo—which overtook Bud Light last May—with 9.7%, followed by Michelob Ultra with 7.3%, Bud Light with 6.5% and Corona Extra sitting just below 6%.
The crucial four-week period includes the July Fourth weekend, which can heavily impact a beer brand’s yearly performance, according to the Wall Street Journal.
While Bud Light continues to decline, its brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev is also the maker of Michelob Ultra and Busch Light—both of which have seen increases in sales in the four week period—though AB InBev shares have dipped 4% year to date.

The rest of the time it's local craft breweries (but their prices have gotten into obscene territory). We discovered "Blue Ocean Brewing" in Half Moon Bay, California a couple weeks ago. They've got a very nice bar and patio to sit at and excellent beer. I bought their Sea Wolf - West Coast IPA (6.9% ABV / 65 IBU) that they describe as "A modern west coast IPA. Great northwest flavors and a clean, crisp finish. Made with CTZ, Amarillo, Chinook, Cascade, Simcoe hops." It was very good, but VERY expensive.
To this day, I still don’t buy Tyson chicken.
I don’t think there is a Bud Light boycott. Just people responding very negatively to their advertising.
FYI...to anyone who likes Mich Ultra
Yuengling Flight is the same type of super-light, low calorie not very flavorful beer but tastes better and is brewed by patriots.
Once some people tasted real beer, they didn’t go back to Puke Light.
The only beer from this list, I can ever drink, is the one on the very bottom.
Luckily, there are a lot of others!
Me either. Other reasons, too. Personal experience with them. (Cannot get into details.)
HD BEWARE!
It is amazing what goes for “beer” these days. Every one of those brands (yes, I have tried them all) are nothing but swill. Nothing but poor man juice.
Not including IPA’s and micro breweries, the only acceptable major American brand of beer, is Samuel Adams, period.
ANYTHING from Budweiser is cockroach spray.
That reminds me. I need to drive down into MA to buy some Yuengling Lager. They do not sell it anywhere north of there in NH or New England.
That is the issue with Yuenling. They only distribute it in certain states in the USA. Not even half the country. The case I bought last year on Cape Cod just ran out.
It was like Christmas, my birthday and Nov 8 2016 all rolled into one when they started selling it in Ohio 20 years or so back. Prior to that I had been getting cases when I visited Pennsylvania.
Black and Tan is my groove.
Wow. I thought I was one of the few left. Typson put the Clintstones in the White House.
While the S&P 500 has risen 18% year to date.
“I fully second that! Why these idiotic companies including Harley-Davidson are targeting a market that’s less than 2-3% is beyond any reasonable logic.”
The stupidity of woke CEOs is amazing. Bud, Target, Tractor Supply, and now Harley Davidson. How many times do you have to watch someone stick a fork into an electrical socket before you decide it’s a BAD IDEA.
In Arizona, THAT Brewery from Pine, AZ is taking off highly!
They started in little town, they are now all over AZ and going to NM.
Very good beer.
So far my search says Bud hasn’t fired the woman, she is just on some kind of forced leave which probably includes being paid.
“I got spoiled during my recent trip to Spain, you simply can’t go back to American beer after that.”
If you’ve been drinking Bud you haven’t been drinking beer.
I wonder if she ever had a moment of self reflection and how stupid she was or if she blames the uneducated heathens she was trying market beer too for all her troubles
Maybe she just gets drunk everyday and pops Xanax to help her cope
Gag!
