Vice President Kamala Harris’ first major policy plan took on the top issue in the presidential campaign — the economy and high prices — with sweeping proposals for expanded government intervention and more federal spending.
She vowed to lower prices at the grocery store with price controls and open up the increasingly out-of-reach housing market with tax subsidies for home buyers.
“Believe me, as president, I will go after the bad actors,” Ms. Harris said in a speech Friday in North Carolina. “I will work to pass the first-ever federal ban on price gouging on food. My plan will include new penalties for opportunistic companies that exploit crises and break the rules.”
Former President Donald Trump said Ms. Harris had gone “full communist.”
“She wants to destroy our country after causing catastrophic inflation,” he said Saturday at a rally in Pennsylvania. “Comrade Kamala announced that she wants to institute socialist price controls. You saw that never worked before. Never ever worked.”
He also said she was “promising to hand out things she can’t deliver.”
Ms. Harris’ economic platform mostly serves as an extension of President Biden’s policies but adds a bigger role for the federal government.
She said the unprecedented price controls on food and groceries are necessary because corporations are price-gouging Americans — a charge Mr. Biden made regularly to explain soaring inflation.
Under the Harris plan, the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general could impose harsh penalties on companies that set prices too high.

The disdain she must have for the average person to think that they’ll believe food makers are ‘price gouging’ is unequalled.
These are nothing but hot air goals without any substance behind how to achieve them.
The obvious policy that would actually bring prices down, being the lowering of energy costs, is ignored - because ‘carbon fuels bad’.
Expressing concern that Trump is blowing it and that he might possibly lose this election does not make someone a leftist troll or imply that they want Kamala to win or support her economic policies.
And most of the people on that thread expressing concern have been posting on Free Republic for a decade, if not longer.

Price controls? Ah, yes, the leftist solution and recipe to make everything precisely worst. Price controls limit supply and destroy quality. I recall a lecture way back when I took Econ 101 that focused on the old Soviet Union. Prices on goods were typically within reach, however Soviet citizens had to hover around with pockets full of cash, waiting for something (talking food, clothing here) to become available.
What went hand-in-hand with Soviet price controls? If you said rationing and black market, you are correct. But wait, there's more.
How did they try to solve the supply problem? Right again, they cheapened quality to speed up production.

And, what about housing shortages? Tax credits and subsidies seem like good ideas, don't they?
Ha! Since when did the Feds ever give things away without some social engineering mixed in? Might you suspect that hard-working young couples wanting a new home better have the correct race, gender, and other "DEI" credentials to qualify? And, might you also suspect that progressive federal guidelines regarding codes and permitting might be drawn up in order to overrule local ones are a hidden bonus for the power/control mad left? Don't know, but such things should be spelled out before folks begin voting, eh?

All Trump would need to do is describe each of her policies as executed in communist countries and what the results are. Then just assert she’s a far-left liberal...which she is.
