WaPo Slams Kamala Harris’s Government Price Control Plan: ‘Hard to Exaggerate How Bad This Policy Is’
Breitbart ^ | 08/16/2024 | Joshua Klein

It is “hard to exaggerate how bad” Vice President Kamala Harris’s proposal to implement government-enforced price control on groceries is, according to a Washington Post essay slamming the plan as both vague and harmful, and cautioning those labeled “communist” by their opponents should think twice before pushing such radical economic policies.

In a piece published Thursday, titled “When your opponent calls you ‘communist,’ maybe don’t propose price controls?” Washington Post columnist Catherine Rampell argues that it’s difficult to overstate just “how bad” Harris’s plan is.

“It’s not hard to figure out where this proposal came from,” the essay states. “Voters want to blame someone for high grocery bills, and the presidential candidates have apparently decided the choices are either the Biden administration or corporate greed.”

“Harris has chosen the latter,” Rampell adds.

Biden has also floated this idea quite a few times. Last time he floated the idea was right before fast food joints came out with their 5 dollar meals that nobody likes because it isn’t their usual favorite, or amount of slop they like.

We’ll need to get Russian samovars so we can make coffee while we wait in line for stuff, as the Russians did during communism.

This is true but Bezo probably would not be fond of this idea because of Amazon.

Agreed.

Some people who are apologists for communism, tell us that communism has just never been implemented properly.

So they would have us believe that Joe Stalin, Chairman Mao, Fidel Castro, etc. Just weren’t very good communists .

Lemme see here. They increase our dependence on energy from not so friendly countries importing rather than exporting oil & gas, Spend more than they take in on asinine projects and illegals, and give money to our enemies. So, after they have caused inflation, they want a business to charge less for their products that cost more to make? Makes perfect sense to someone, I guess. Someone with their head up their balloon knot.

Bezos owns Whole Foods, one target of Harris’ price controls.

Really? The Washington Post actually wrote that? I would've thought they'd lap it up, you know, to save Democracy.

Interesting observation, given Whole Foods reputation for pricey products, what would price controls do to their business?

If they start telling us how high a price it is, that should be illegal...they’ll soon be telling us how low they won’t allow either.
Government setting prices. What could go wrong.

Did Bezos pull himself away from his Sanchez showing her tatas on the yacht to tell Wapo this is a policy gone too far.
