Vance is one of the least popular vice-presidential picks this century.
It's important to make a good first impression — whether you're on a first date, interviewing for a job or running to be vice president of the United States. And the two men who recently joined the Republican and Democratic presidential tickets have made very different first impressions.
According to 538's new polling average of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz's favorable and unfavorable ratings, the Democratic candidate for vice president has an unusual quality for a modern politician: He's well liked. As of Aug. 15 at 1 p.m. Eastern, 38 percent of Americans have a favorable opinion of him, and 33 percent have an unfavorable opinion of him.
Democrats' initial branding of Walz — as a paternal former teacher, coach and National Guardsman — seems to have caught on, especially immediately after he was announced as Vice President Kamala Harris's running mate, when multiple polls found him with a double-digit positive net favorability rating (favorable rating minus unfavorable rating). Since then, his unfavorable rating has risen a bit faster than his favorable rating as Republicans have accused him of exaggerating his military service, but he still has a solid +5-point net favorability rating on average.
By contrast, Americans aren't vibing with the Republican vice-presidential nominee. On average, only 33 percent have a favorable opinion of Sen. JD Vance, while 42 percent have an unfavorable one.

How does someone like Nathaniel Rakich get away with such fictional opinion? His piece is the absolute example of gaslighting that relies on fanciful reasoning for his conclusions. It’s like relying on the opinion of a third grader as truth.
Trump should have picked Tulsi .
its 538 poll have they ever been right about anything
My female intuition tells me Walz is REPULSIVE...worse than the worst used car salesman. I can’t even stand to hear him speak.
Saw JD yesterday in MI giving a speech and answering questions and I thought he was extremely likable, good on his feet and with great answers when questioned.
As I recall, Sarah Palin was pretty popular in 2008.
With who? DemocRats!
Sarah Palin was the ONLY reason I voted for McLame.
👍👍👍👍👍
They have nothing on Vance because he is smart and likeable. They can’t play the race card this election. It has been overplayed so they are getting creative.
Not to Trump supporters he’s not.
And we almost all liked Sarah Palin a thousand times more than we hated McCain.
That’s a lot! :)
Even Nikki Haley. There’s no way I could vote for Harris/Walz. None.
The left seems terrified of Vance. He’s an example of anyone being able to go from poverty to success and then sides with Republicans.
That is forbidden for the left to appreciate.
AFTER we get President Trump reelected and get things going fixing our country. Perhaps Sarah can be made whole again by using her talent and enthusiasm to help our cause and allow her to recoup more than what she lost on lawfare. Despite family troubles she was treated shabbily and deserves a better ending.
I think you are absolutely correct and wouldn’t be surprised if pedo accusations against him come out, hopefully before the election.
...and Tim walz is more unpopular than al jazeera!
“And we almost all liked Sarah Palin a thousand times more than we hated McCain.”
The only ones that liked that idiot McCain were the media (because he was a loser) and G Gordon Liddy. No one else I knew liked him.
But Sarah was a rock star!
ABC (Always Bull Crap) is irrelevant and unimportant.
Well u should be happy
Oh yah, that guy’s face has “swirlie emperor” written all over it.
I avoid the MSM. I certainly get that the hard-core leftists who hate Trump are going to hate whomever he selected as a running mate. But can someone explain to me why some low-information independent-type voter would *hate* JD Vance at this point? What’s there to hate about the guy? I don’t get it.
I just streamed Hillbilly Elegy on Netflix last weekend. I don’t often get choked up watching movies, but it was a very moving film. JD is an American success story... born to a mom with substance-abuse/addiction issues from lower-class family, his grandmother pushed him out of that cycle, turning him into a responsible young man, Marine... college graduate... Yale Law. People hate him because ... why? Because some lying commie bums say he’s “weird”?
