Kellyanne Conway presses Trump for ‘fewer insults’ in bid for ‘winning formula’
The Washington Examiner ^ | 08/13/2024 | Emily Hallas

Former White House adviser Kellyanne Conway joined the chorus of GOP strategists who want former President Donald Trump to change his tone on the campaign trail.

Conway told Fox Business anchor Larry Kudlow during an interview on Monday that her former boss needs to adapt his rhetoric to produce a “winning formula” against Vice President Kamala Harris.

“The winning formula for President Trump is very plain to see,” Conway proclaimed. “It’s fewer insults, more insights, and that policy contrast.”

The GOP strategist worked closely with Trump for three years before retiring from her role as counselor to the president in August 2020.

If President Trump would just contrast the policies, he’ll win!” Conway added. “Because he has a 2-to-1 advantage over Biden-Harris on the economy and inflation, on the border, on Israel and Hamas, on the key issues that are important to people.”

Conway isn’t the only GOP strategist worried that Trump’s stabs on Harris could detract from his presidential ambitions.

Republican pollster Frank Luntz is among others who have suggested Trump’s “persona” is hurting his campaign.

*** Conway was rumored to have had a fallout with Trump insiders after the former president picked Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) to be his running mate. Over a dozen MAGA insiders allegedly accused the former White House counselor of fueling negative press about Vance after the Ohio Republican was launched as Trump’s No. 2.

However, the ex-White House adviser planted herself firmly in the Trump camp during her interview with Kudlow. Deriding Harris for being “afraid” to speak to the media, Conway touted Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and claimed the GOP leader had “the best opportunity” to win the 2024 presidential election.

Again, it’s not what I said, it’s what you said. You’re the one with the emotional connection, not me.

Kellyanne is no friend to Trump. She’s a self-serving opportunistic climber. Her support for Trump in 2016 was a career move - nothing more.

She was one of the first to criticize Trump for questioning the 2020 results and even offered to work with the Biden administration at the beginning of his term. She was all set to cut Trump loose. Then a funny thing happened. Trump wouldn’t go away, and neither did his popularity. It only grew the more people experienced life under a Biden administration. So Kellyanne climbed back onto the Trump train and hoped people never noticed that she’d ever gotten off.

In short, Kellyanne is an Establishment hack and a fraud.

So Kellyanne climbed back onto the Trump train and hoped people never noticed that she’d ever gotten off.

Being left behind crying at the loading platform as the train leaves the station brings attention.

She simply waited for a train bound for Ukraine to board for her new destination. Free tickets, don't ya know.

The GOPe has been courting and catering to the fainting couch women since the Bush days-it did notwork then

There is a lot of polling data, albeit much of it skewed, suggesting the contrary. Given the narrow margins by which Bush II won, I would like to see your supporting evidence. Considering the outcomes in 2022 due to Dobbs, I doubt that has changed. Hence, until you can supply said evidence, your claim is bald assertion.

You tout push polls as evidence. TOO funny.

You can find info to support any opinion you have online-so can I, but that does not make it so in either case-my work requires me to be an observer of human nature-so it follows that I do it personally, as well.

What I see happening with the women we’re talking about is that they are so narrowly focused on themselves that unless a candidate-or a business owner, neighbor, etc promises to so everything that makes them happy, they just aren’t interested. It is all about their feelings, no logic or reasoning in the mix.

I don’t think it is worth alienating many voters to possibly please a self-absorbed few-if you do, that is fine-but unless we can stop the cheat legally-with observation, monitoring, rules and on-spot consequences for breaking them -all the pandering in the world won’t matter, in my opinion...

I will be volunteering as a poll watcher, as I have before to do my part...

What I said wasn't touting. It acknowledeges that it is difficult to come up with objective data for citation.

That has been the nature of public education since the Rockefellers started the General Education Board.

I don’t think it is worth alienating many voters to possibly please a self-absorbed few-

How many is "few"? Given that the nature of public education, has been emotional conditioning for over a century, I don't think it is. We don't need to convince all of them, but the results of the last election alone suggest we do need some.

“Advice like that is privately given.”

Correct. Which tells me that Trump isn’t currently taking advice from anyone. If he was, how could he have done anything as unwise as debating Biden in June?

Just because you don’t like her doesn’t mean what she is saying isn’t true. However, we can wish and we can dream but it is who he is. He would be better if he stopped that nonsense. It is baked in the pie though and he MUST win. Has to win. We need everyone off their asses this year. Go to your local GOP chapter and ask how you can help. There are things you can do from your house but we have to get people out to vote and the down ticket as well. This is it folks..

Public education is another factor in the difference in who and what people vote for-in this, and other rural areas in Texas, public education enrollment has been declining for more than 20 years-that is entirely different from the nearest big city,-only 50 miles away. I’d be over the moon to see the Carter dept of ed go away if DJT wins-likewise the EPA.

No school bus has been coming down the road I live on for the last 4 years. There are several families with multiple kids living here, but they are all either home schooled or in the nearby Christian school. There is some talk of closing one of the two elementary schools in the county because of a lack of enrollment, and it is worse every year, while the Christian school has hired more teachers and added on several new classrooms in the past 3-4 years. If school choice gets voted in, public school in Texas may just meet a well-deserved end in the cities as well-I hope so.

Point is, we have a whole generation of rural, home/private schooled kids in conservative families here who are voting-and they are voting like conservative mom and dad-for DJT. I’ve heard that this is going on in other states as well, but I don’t know how far it has gone.

This nonsense as you call it did him no harm when he won the election in 2016 and again in 2020.

I’m not sure why so many people ignore the real issues Trump is campaigning on as they focus on trivial matters like his insults.
